Galleta is a small little community that if you snooze you loose. It sits on the Mississippo River just south of the Ottawa River.
I pass it often on our way to the next town to get groceries and supplies. First settled in 1823 and peppered with a few houses, families originated from Irish settlers to work in one of several mills wollen, spinning, timber, potash mines. the lumber industry and prospecting the Ottawa River for gold and of course the power generating plant in later years
The generating plant built in 1907. The original town was prosperous with the general store on the main drag ( still standing and closed) the original boarding house for laborers demolished in the 1990's . The railway is used seldom but is still operational
