Ben stopped his work to help me recreate my room

The only thing that i can do to make it better is to finish the rough edge on my built up table ( melamine) next rip to Home Depot will do it!

Wonder where some one thought they might sleep ?Better see if my neighbors will keep you.Tough luck to those that left home and moved far away- I have
reclaimed the room it is now totally mine!!

Yesterday I went out and bought a handi quilter. They are quite pricey but I haggled It was brand new never out of the package! Now for the learning curve. As you can see I am starting like everyone lse on a scrap of material!! Not!I am on the second row of my little pattern. The first row was a real test patch and I have corrected my errors, row two is perfect. Not bad for someone who has only operated the machinery for an hour.

This is a poor mans version of a long arm quilter and is actually called a short arm because you use your home machine I bet you could make one quite easily and just buy the carriage, it glides like it is going through butter!

Here it is all my sewing fabric and all nice and neat!Better yet all in one place I can see it!

I also managed to scrounge an area for my sewing and embroidery

It glides along a little track, carried on a dolly the sewing machine careen forward, backward and side to side

This is a handiquilter quilt frame that you use your own sewing machine to turn into a shortarm quilter

Finally all cleaned up

Look at todays article, Sure you don't want to come for a visit?
Click on the post title and read all about it!

SHip ahoy

Rain Rain too wet to work on the boat but Ben and me worked diligently at sanding off the 30 year old wooden steering wheel. I put a maple stain on it and hopefully tomorrow will apply a high gloss clear varnish to make it shine. Originally a maple wheel that has worn with the years, I applied a maple stain and it is soaking in, boy is that wood thirsty!! After it dries it should lighten up slightly. Next project you ask? 1) To get the rain to stop so we can 2) hook up the new steering cable and mechanism. OH JOY!!

Still picking up sticks

Here we go again, hail, rain , tornado funnel and lots of sticks. the garden is flattened and the lawn is trodden down. The local road to town is washed out and has to be rebuilt for the third time in 2 years. A neighbors driveway is non existent after the heavy rains washed the gravel down to the barebones. It may take a while to clean up. That is if the rain ever stops
Only in June you say??

Grab bags

I decided to make some grab bags for bride's maids.I have a variety of patterns but thought I would do one up first.I have a $1 Dollarama bag with sturdy handles and a variety of embroidery patterns.I choose one pattern to start with, I have 5 bags to do.
Once they are embroidered they can be filled with treats for the bridesmaids to munch on, soothing hand lotion, mini toothbrushes and toothpaste and a boxed drink, sandals for weary feet. I feel like I am sending a kid to camp!

I should have known better and not touched a thing today

After the first desk top computer (almost 20 years old) went poof I should have known better. As soon as I smelled the acrid fumes I knew just what had happened. Ben salvaged the hard drive and a few other pieces. We moved onto a desktop that Dad gave us, one of the fans gave up it went clunk. It did not die it thinks it is getting too hot so the automatic shut off is doing just that! SO now the jacket is off the tower, dear hubby will get out the vacuum and give it a whirl. Oh joy

This is all a diversion while we figure out the steer on the boat, the cable is bust and we are too cheap to purchase a complete steering and cable assembly. I have a plan B to try tomorrow... We will see if my luck is better

1,2. 3 hoist

Now how hard can it be to lift a roof? HAH!
The arms were anchored onto the railing, we lifted the roof up(it is aluminum ) not really heavy but awkward.
It is barely wider than the railings, so it was a teetering act. WE heaved and hoed and finally laid the front end on the railing and tried to anchor the back portion into the appropriate brackets. Yep it was finickety, but we got it up.

Today was an off day, no boat work, ran out of supplies. Hopefully tomorrow I can find a cable for the steering system
Might as well make it all new along with the electrical now we got it apart!

Puzzle boat!

Have railing and fences- begining to look like a boat again! Roof and wiring for lights to be done this afternoon

Then electronics for the motor need to be overhauled. Now the big delema. Do I spring for a new captains console?
OR do I recover the old one to match the same shade of decor. Hmm one more day of shopping I can see!!

Last but not least. Mask the panels and paint the outer panels of the boat.I powerwashed and that old dang paint that peeled wouldn't lift.I can see it will be a labor of love taping painting and not getting any on me or my new floor
Oh Ben......................

Back on board

Now that we are home, not a minute to spare. Boat work is calling us!! We blew off the floor, removed wires and steering cables. Then the big job- the floor---we divided our work surface in half, glued with vinyl cement and the appropriate trowel. Then slowly rolled the flooring in place, working with 8 X 3 foot sections we managed without a wrinkle.

Once each section was laid I took my rolling pin working from the center to the selvage. After it looked perfectly smoothed I then got up on the deck and slowly very slowly inched my feet across the deck so that the glued would surely be grabbing the felt on the back of the vinyl.

The best news is that we beet the rain in the forecast
WE have to wait 48 hours for the floor to perfectly dry
I will check tomorrow for any bubbles that appear.

Then we can start working on our fences to put them back, just think of the cheap hours of entertainment I have provided for " Dear Hubby". I am sure that he will thank me in a year or two .... So far this adventure has cost us $300 I have thought that the remake may come in at $500. I may surprise myself yet!

Boat Saga

We have the deck cleaned and wrapped as there is rain in the forecast.
Unfortunately it is too windy to work further, to secure the new flooring
Thank goodness the deck wood is sound. The next thing is to apply the vinyl flooring. I was surprised to see how light the flooring it, it resembles the vinyl on boat seats but nobby. An adhesive is used just as the old vinyl flooring used to be glued down. After the glue is applied the vinyl is anchored to it by laying the vinyl over the glue and applying pressure, It is recommended to roll the floor to get out any air bubbles, I have a theory and we will see if it works. I want to lay the vinyl out over the surface and then divide it in half on the long end ( from haul to bow) then glue a section 4 X 16, lay the vinyl flat and using a rolling pin roll in one direction, that would be from the center to the edge therefore getting the air bubbles out of the area rather then rolling the airbubbles into the centerline. The repeat on the other side of the boat. Lets see if it works that way!! Stay tuned for next weekend

Hour 2 + 3

SO far the boat is dismantled, now to let the floor dry and decide if we are replacing it or not.
One stubborn bolt held us up by 1/2 hour
At least it looks like we have progressed!
