Quilt from hell or quilter from hell!!!

I was all set to work on my newest quilt top All secure and raring to go when.......... I noticed I had rats nests on the underside of my quilt, OH HORROR. I got that cleared and then the tension went kafooey. Moving along and trying to ignore the frustration I was breaking needles and bending them every 6". Good thing I have 50 or so left!! OK enough of you! I packaged the sewing machine up. A 20 year old Kenmore with a larger harp so that I can free motion my quilts. It has been 10 years since it has seen the Dr. SO I am sitting looking at this sewing box by the door, with the urge to send it to the curb ( today is garbage day). I stopped looked and opened the box. BIG mistake...... I should have been begging for a new machine I pulled the bobbin and case apart, took the faceplate off the machine and got out my toothbrush, sparkling it was! Then to look at the tension, I played here and there with scraps. HMM looking promising! Should I try it?? Dang another broken needle and then it dawned on me maybe a little too late... The large bobbin was wound in a fashion that it would freely flow and then the brakes were on literally, it was jamming in the tensioner and yanking on the needle and breaking the needle. I will fix that, so I wound a dozen bobbins of this thread. reattached my machine to the quilt frame, repined the quilt and I am on my way. Guess what ?? It is working just dandy. Of course this is the quilt that I plan to overquilt, every square inch in sight and a multitude of patterns. What a time to die and of course I am too cheap to purchase a machine that would be the next best thing in my price range...It may last one more decade! HOrray!

Oh in the life of Jane............some things just keep hanging on

It is hot here and lots of advisories so we are staying in, Just popped out to do garbage and melted. Good day to sort out the back room and then where things are going, I got my quilting setup together again, then WE got that whicked 300 pound wardrobe in place without any hassle. Except we found that it is the same height as the ceiling fan. OOPS. It is ok we just kissed it. I decided to change around some furniture and then to put my bookshelf on the same wall at the heat regulator- well of course the unit is too wide and I can't reach the unit BUT Ben is going to do a cut out so I can have my wallunit where I want and be able to turn on the heat, Obviously that will not be today!! Ben has given up his computer table and it matches everything in that room and I will use it as a sewing and cutting table, Yippee I have unloaded close to 50 pounds of the daughters treasures and going to be sending it out her way , Makes a tiny dent in that room. Oh SURPRISE Jennifer this is for you.... SO with a little tweeking and much puttering my room should be restocked by this afternoon and until then you will be in suspense!

Manitoba Horse Trails

The Eventers are taking a walk in the Park, Birds Hill Park!!
See Jenn's colorful coordination? The hat cover I made for her from Lycra
It matches her shirt and safety vest, The fancy checked pants she is wearing
are a gift from her Hubby Kevin.

The reason that she wears colorful clothing is that when the eventer is jumping obstacles in the bushy if they lay down ( or fall off- that is not in our vocabulary) the rider is easy to spot.

That MIracle Grow sure did work!

WIth lots of leaf mulch form last years maple and oak leaves, a dash of miracle grow and lots of abuse and neglect thigs are sprouting all over, I have had to displace a few shovels of ground clover to let the others flourish!

It all looked nice, the lawns freshly coiffed

And then the rains and winds hit! Down came my leaves and some branches
Hopefully not my apple buds on the trees along the road! Cant wait for the rain to stop and the clean up crew start. Wait a second that is me!!
