Needed !! Sympathetic Nurse

I have been plagued with knobby knees. I have one that wants to be arthritic and a pain in the JOINT! I also have a torn Meniscus on the back of that same knee. I am told to wait and see what happens in my old age and then a replacement will eventually be in the cards. I don't like surgeries and they don't like me. SO............. I am using the stationary bike to build up the quads and surrounding area of my right knee. I am really missing my long hikes that I used to do but because of the pain and deterioration I have put the long walks aside, well for awhile.

Today was the day, I had biked several times a day going no where on the stationary bike but improving my musculature. I decided that a long walk was in order. This am I hobbled just over the 2 mile mark, a scenic stroll and lots of entertainment along the way. Tonight I got the bright idea to do it again but further. I think I walked just under 3 miles up and over hills again to test out that knee and try to strengthen it in ways a bike can't do. I remembered the horse with the bad knee and lots of flat work and straight lines , for a period of time, followed by hills> I figured what is good for the large animal is probably suitable for the large human :))

The good news is that I made it back, with a little list to my gaite but non the less I did not have to call home for the reinforcement team to come and get me. So here I sit with computer and ice pack, hoping that tomorrow I can repeat the activity!

There is a reason you have to guard your sewing room

A neighbor bought me a remote control for Xmas, so that I could turn my lights on and off with a flick of a switch. Ben was wathing me as I ran from front to back of my machine turning it on and off. Now it has its own remote so I can turn it on without having to run around my quilting frame to get to the back of the machine! What next!

Thank you card

I donate a lot of quilts for charity and today I received a personal card. For privacy reasons the person knows I made the quilt for them but I do not necessarily know who they are. It was a treat to receive a personal thank you!

I did put out some garbage pails that quicly filled with water so at least we could flush the toilets. Today seems to be all show not a spec of rain, I think it is too darn hot!! Thank you Air Conditioner!

I did it my way

This is an applique quilt I made from my baby go cutter and the OAK DIE. Then I quilting it on my Bailey with a paisley pattern. It might have a few more dips and dives than the experts but I am getting my practice in , I equate this quilting pattern to the Where is Waldo- I hope I rememeber not to use dark backgrounds next time, It is not as easy at the lighter ones!

Isn't the back snazzy

I just might be certifiable

I decided tonight was the night, The Bailey was put to the test. I grabbed all the spools of mono that I had. I turned down my speed control lightly wound the bobbin with the oh so fine thread.careful not to catch the thread on any protruding screws. nuts or bolts. I took a nail file and sanded the little cut edge on the bobbin that holds the thread when you buy it. We were set to go!

Quilt loaded, thread in place and with a slow motion I guided the machine. I did not want to pull the thread too taught so that it would break, I was on a roll. Mentally I had my checklist- speed control, thread spool with it's collar on so it would not catch on itself and wind evenly. I swooned and scalloped to my own beat, breathing in slow rhythm to keep an even pace.

I did a swath 1 foot X 8 inchs. proud that my experiment worked and almost thinking that soon the bobbin thread would run out, I should probably call it a night.

THEN IT HAPPENED> Kerplunk. The thread caught up on something, the needle was pulled and flexed and it jammed and broke, END OF EXPERIMENT. The needle is replaced, the machine is put to bed for the night. There is always tomorrow

This says it all............. Welcome to my world

They LIED

I went onto "Youtube"looking for a different pattern to work with all these strips of fabric. I saw a tutorial for a 45 minute quilt, that sounded good. I stripped the fabric to the appropriate size 2 1/2 " width) then stitched them in one long channel with a bias seam. Now I have about 3000 feet of strips. I brought the end of the strip to the beginning of the strip, therefore making a long loop and cut it crosswise at the distal end. I merrily sewed repeating the process as you can see. When it all came together, several hours later I had an extra long queen sized quilt. Now I have to make borders- maybe tomorrow...

New Home

Our little trailer is not getting any use so I listed it on two free boards, hope it sells so some little family can enjoy it!I built a website and within a few hours I received a call Then within 24 hours I sold it for asking price, It was really cute and clean and we spent a lot of time training the would be owners. WE buckled up the trailer to his truck, made sure all his lights were working and off they went.............

Now there is a lot of driveway left but not for long, I can actually park my truck in my own laneway now!

This has been a killer

This is a log cabin variation and I have been on it for most of the week an hour here and hour there. So today I finally got it off the frame. Now for squaring up and binding! That is going to take some time soon, and only 24 hours in a day..How will I ever finish. This quilt pantograph ( the flowers) got me so mesmerized that I nodded off for a second and somewhere on the quilt is an extra swirl on one flower - must be a bug, right?

WAKY WINDOWS

The little windows are made from about 20 1/4" strips. The Blue blocks are from a kingsized sheet I bought and the rest of it is a quilt back, I just couldn't waste it, I have loads of fabric and I am still on box #1
I am making all sorts of scrappy quilt tops for charity and I think the kids will love the scrappier quilts!
