Double Decker??

To all my quilting friends

I just want to pass this by you in case you have some direction for me

Here is my problem

I have now a Bailey on a handiquilter frame
I have yet to get a PC quilter-hopefully on Sunday

I hate clutter and wasted space and I don't want to waste my nice carriage

SOOOOOOOOO here is what I was thinking

Double Decker quilting, If the Bailey on the Frame is a little higher- say chest level Is there any reason that I can put the PC quilter and a midarm on a lower deck? My logic thinks it would be ok, and exercise wise those squats will be great for my buns of steel. If the PC quilter is automated I should be able to just pay attention on initial set up and when the bobbin runs out. if I have a little low level foot stool I can then stoop, sit and replenish. Think Bunk beds , but bunk bed frames filled with quilting machines

NO I am not running a factory I just want to have less realestate space Have the option of using the two machines depending on what I want to do................ Am I having too much fun??????????? Or am I just plain old trouble

Pay it forward
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pay it forward is a term describing the beneficiary of a good deed repaying it to others instead of to the original benefactor. The concept is old, but the phrase may have been coined by Lily Hardy Hammond in her 1916 book In the Garden of Delight.[1]

"Pay it forward" is implemented in contract law of loans in the concept of third party beneficiaries. Specifically, the creditor offers the debtor the option of paying the debt forward by lending it to a third person instead of paying it back to the original creditor. Debt and payments can be monetary or by good deeds. A related type of transaction, which starts with a gift instead of a loan, is alternative giving.

In the past month Pay it Forward has hit Ottawa mainly at Tim Horton's where a patron pays for customers to follow. leaving them a free coffee with their name on it!! I had a similar opportunity lately. In the hospital cafeteria I noticed a young girl in front of me, it was 8 am and she was pretty hungry. She had no money and the hospital cafeteria would not take a debit card. Probably there was a machine somewhere close. This was my line.... I jumped in , probably scaring the girl, insisting that she put the food down as I paid for it and she could continue on her day. For less than $3 I made a new friend, was confident she was not going to faint from hunger, and had my chance to " pay forward"

SO now the ? is how you are going to pay forward

Some one

Sent this my way............. At first I thought I should be insulted. Then I had a second thought. Little kids are often noted has having a language all their own, with garbled sentences that no one can understand, speaking in code they can relate to others of their age. Meanwhile the parents are confused on what junior is discussing with the dog.

Same applies to seniors, aren't they just big kids? Of course I would not know....Not old enough to be a senior myself I thought it important that I familiarize myself with their secret language. Who knows maybe someday I will be old enough to know what it is all about~!

Thank you!!

Isn't this the cutest little thank you note. I made a ballerina quilt - that I posted in earlier posts and the
little recipients sent me this note of gratitude

Another one bites the dust!!

Here I am one more chairty quilt down the drain
Has a stretch minky backing which is oh so soft but it was pretty stretchy I don't think I would use it again I would use polar fleece as it tends not to stretch of mishape as much. Then again it is probably one of those scenarios - practice makes perfect

Once upon a time......................

When my little person was oh so little ( soon to be 29!!) she used to wait for  her favourite book. Each Xmas season the pages would be doggy eared. the gifts she hoped to get were circled with markers just so Santa would not be confused on what she clearly wanted. I am not sure that she ever commented that Santa gave her the wrong gift, she was delighted at the thought he and his reindeer made it , gobbled up the cookies and left a gift in return. Hard to imagine it is almost that time again

I have such a bumper crop that I am sure that I will be taking a bushel to FL with me to go with the oranges on our tree at our site!

In the year of 1976........

I was working in a dept store called Oglivy's in Ottawa. I spied these dishes and thought that MOM would like them, At the time with my store discounts the $100 for 45 piece setting was about 25% less. I purchased a set for 4 and conned my dad to purchasing another so now we had a 8 piece matching set. Melamine move over!!!

Somehow when I returned from my 2 year stint of working in Edmonton I inherited the dishes. I am not sure how, But I would like to send a special delivery to the Pearly Gates to let MOM know that I still use them every day and now that (I) - 45 place setting is worth $709...I think I hear some rustling up above!

I wish I had my camera!

We live on the Ottawa River and it is on the flight path for several modes of transportation. The Forces base is up river in a community called Pembroke. Often we have helicopters that surface just over our tree tops, with our glass roof it can provide an eerie response. The military copters are using the river as their navigational tool and you can hear the " whooping" before you can see them, suddenly their green bodies appear.

Then there is the Ottawa Flight School training in Constance Lake just a few miles down river, once again they are on our path. Part of their training is of course landing on their pontoons. The planes hovers slightly over the waters surface and then up they go,practicing landing and take off techniques. Yesterday there were three planes of different colors all float planes and flying in tandom, Oh where or where was my camera?

Do you recognize any of these?

I must admit there is are a few things I recognize and some I thought I would never have come up with!

What is wrong with this pic? Or where is Waldo??

This is the view from the front yard. I should  be sitting in the chair, BUT I have a problem I just can't sit for long there is always some sort of distraction . Are you surprised?

One would think that the purple chair is not comfy, made from recycled plastic it is quite easy to sit in and most importantly to get out of ! See I made it I am taking this pic! The only danger is that it is so comfy I might not get out of it to do my homework! Which of course I am going to do any minute now!!

Here Puddy

My neighbors cat went missing a week ago, Posters erected and no sign of the dear puddy.
Last night about midnight she chased the fisher out of her yard and into mine!!!
Wonder why the cat population has dwindled? Apparently these little critter eat porcupine too!

Painted into a corner

We don't have to go out tonight right? Here I am I decided to leave a little pathway on the deck so we can come and go. Then I when one was almost dry I painted the walking area on the other. SO we are literally painted into the house. Not sure if I can get a second coat on and dry before the rain starts up again, It seems to be a race on time. Either the forecast is for rain and it never happens or the forecast is clear and there is a downpour, I can't win, but today I might be ahead of the game. We decided to put a semi transparent stain on the deck as the solid stain peels like heck, After the first coat it looks pretty good, one more should  do the trick, Better yet the stain was 1/2 price, YIPPY

Knob shnob

After 30 years it was time for a upgrade. Off to home depot for a browse. The shinny and antiqued handles ranged in prices from reasonable to the ridiculous. A necessity of life - you need a knob to enter and exit the premises. Then the light bulb went on I then thought I should check the website, EUREKA . Did you know that the same knobs were 1/2 price online and free shipping right to my door? And the selection on line was greater than in the store. I dialed the number and ordered away in 3 business days UPS delivered my handles.

I vamoosed for a day and upon my return there were new fixtures on each door. A heap of old door knobs in a plastic bag ready for recycle. Now one would not think it is a big event. But in our house if something is replaced after a long life it is reason for celebration. Hubby did not realize how pitted and worn the original handles wear. Marred from the acid on one's hands, left as evidence should there need be any forensic evaluations.

The no stoop and scoop method

1) finish your quilting
2) Leave the threads attached and pull away from your quilting by several inches
3) hook your index finger of the opposing hand around the thread that runs from the quilting area to your needle
4) WITHOUT running over your fingers with the needle .. travel back to your quilting area and the same spot you left off at ,
5) Now take one stitch and pull the needle away from you

6) You will see the bottom thread come up from the quilted area
7) You now have three threads
a) the thread you initially looked around your finger
b) the thread ( top ) that you just took the stitch with
c) the loop of bottom stitch that is accompanying the last stitch

8) grab all 3 threads making sure you have the last bottom loop and pulling it to the top. Snip all three

Qilt bed done, but I think I will add

Some detail to the outer edge, I am thinking about it!

I need to get a life

I just noticed that my blog is turning out to be more of a blog about quilting, surely there is more mischief that I can convey to you, I am sure there is .... Stay tuned

Did I mention............

I will never look at a quilt the same again
I was very interested in the detail that Ricky Tims put into his quilts He had 3 on display and tons on his presentation, I was very very impressed with this landscape themes and he has one called the castle that he had illustrated with step by step instruction. As I am hoping to work on a " Village" this winter that will be perfect for me. The technique that he used seemed so simple why had no one thought of that before! It will be of great value to me..

His presentation was superb, of course he is a seasoned veteran of the music world and performance and it shows. The lessons were well prepared both in text as well as video compliments. No one asked any questions, I was surprised but then I thought that is because he is explaining his techniques so well that he doesn't leave anyone suspended in air

I am not sure that I will be making any tied dyed quilts as are his speciality but I certainly will value the information given. I was most surprised to learn that he is still doing all his topstitch on a regular sized bernina. Obviously he is not one to have arthritic joints. YET
