Here is a the website for the Modern quilting quilt guild that I joined in FL. It is a completely different way of quilting than what I am used to. You will see a real variety of challenge quilts including mine. Shall I say that they asked me to join them just to have a token Canadian>

Last of the 10 min block!

Although you can't see it in the pick just imagine red mitered borders. One good press and it is frame ready. You know what I will be doing this summer!

It took me longer to decide on the color placement

Than making the whole quilt I had so many squares I have one double and one twin.
The double is all sewn together waiting for the frame and the twin will go together
later in the week. Not sure on borders at this point think I will just put on bias tape

The Villages Quilt guild had hundreds of quilts on display, from miniature to king, even some pieces of clothing. This is my favorite " Florida Look" quilt!

Some day

All I need is 8 little buttons, I better make a list so that I will remember to get them. This is a gift for a little person whose grandparents live in our neighborhood in FL. Now I have a few other projects as usual on the go, so here is hoping I finish this one soon. The actual time of production was about 15 hours. yes I know a little longer than I hoped but I had some distractions!

I couldn't resist

I had some leftover gold so I decided to throw it into the mix.
I wonder if it will glow in the dark?

When is a long arm really a long arm...??

I posted this on a yahoo board that asked if the Bailey home quilter was a long arm, a stretched machine or just what was it.. Which category did it belong. Low and behold I got some positive feedback on my creative writing!

That is a loaded question...

The Bailey is a quilting machine constructed by Mr. Bailey from new parts that he has obtained in order to give us a machine that is larger than a Domestic Sewing Machine. The "Bailey" , well it can be argued is a mid arm as opposed to a long arm, (.as some define a longarm starting with a harp of 18") provides the user with a largequilting area equal and greater than a midarm. This is dependent of course on the course on the model purchased- The 17E being on the verge of being called a longarm quilter

One can imagine that there are many arguments to what makes a long arm a long arm . Is it simply the added length of the harp or does it go beyond the threshold into the area of computerize equipment, stitch regulators built in or on board. For argument sake I would say that the Bailey 17 is a long arm quilting machine that has it's own stitch regulator and stitch speed control, It is compatible with at least one computerized longarm software ( sorry the name escapes me but it has been mentioned on the yahoo boards)

Of course this statement is all my own and I guess I also wonder why we have to justify whether we are the proud owners of a long arm, or simply a great quilting machine with a long harp that works for us.

And you are right we would not trade it for the more expensive machines, especially when we have trained ourselves and our machines. Besides what is in a definition, The real story is that it works for us and that we are happy and even happier we did not spend $6k getting there.

Now it will be interesting to see what the others add to the flavor of the definition, Next we might have to write some ditty's and construct you tube video as a contest. and maybe CHUCK will use it in his advertising!!

Whatever you have in a Bailey just know that you are accompanied by a number of people who are proud owners and willing to share in their trials and tribulations of owning such an instrument!!

New aquisition

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1lFwrWFtCY

I have a new toy

After many years of fighting batting and fabric in order to get it through my sewing machine I purchased a frame some 2 years ago, Now for the big leagues. HAHA

The Bailey quilting machine is a unique animal. Patent in the USA in New York state and family made. It runs like a usual sewing machine without dogfeeds and the model I have is 17" in the harp. Needless to say no more fighting with fabric or pushing and pulling. I have not purchased the stitch regulator as I feel that I can control the stitches myself, Time will tell......................

I think I have a greenthumb

All my flowers and veggies are enjoying this heat

I have made the plunge and spent the hubbies money. For those of you who know me and know that I am a spendthrift, life has changed as we know it!! I spent a good chunk of someone's pension this month and my BAILEY HOME QUILTING MACHINE.
I was soo excited and once assembled I had to try it out, amazed that there is no problem with any kind of jinxy activity. Yes this should keep me busy and quiet for a while - ok for a few days at least.....................

There is never enough time!!

SO the past couple of weeks I am no where to be seen Hubby pulled a fast one and wanted attention Writhing in pain on the RV floor we needed medical attention
Off to the neighbor I did run and got a drive to the ER.Too full we turned tail to the local clinic who advised us to go to the Villages hospital

http://cfhalliance.org/AboutUs_Villages.htm

Ben was in hospital for a week and well taken care of while I kept the lines open between family and insurance company and the hospital staff. Full time job. Oh did I mention my daughter was here with her hubby for the week? We provided unlimited entertainment..

Now home the old fellar is quiet and maybe behaving in some books. We will have to see what next week brings!
