You can't see the other shoreline

Today we woke up to a cloud of fog, once outside the acrid smokey air hung low.
Forest fires south of Montreal Quebec and high winds has caused the smoke to come our way.
Usually you can see the Gatineau hills - part of the Laurentian Shield very clearly in the distance. Not today

NO room in the manger

Dear Daughter:

Your mother has kidnapped your bedroom
You are always welcome and if you come in the summer you can camp in the lane way in the trailer.
If you come during the winter - we won't be home
If you come to Florida we can accommodate you .

I threw out the daughter's old bed and resurrected the room
There are now 4 stations, one for knitting ( not shown) another for embroidery, a hangar for small quilts and the quilting frame is up for works in progress. Now warning to all guests- I still have a good set of pillows and there is a lot of room on the floor..................

Blankey

I have just completed a 3 toned, single long afghan.
The hues graduate from soft white, cream to a beige.
It will be accompanying a yet to be designed quilt...eventually

Where is that path??

A mere 20 years ago my Dad was visiting, in fact I think he was babysitting my daughter for the week, when I returned home there was a stone bath from my door to the water's edge. I am not sure if he did it under direction from mother or not. Since that time he has not returned to edge it. Year by year the grass grows over the rock giving the illusion of a much smaller stepping stone then I remember. Every other year I tinker at it..........till now. Armed with a knife I attack, cutting, stabbing and pulling the overgrown vegetation. The earth gives way and I am left with a nicely edged and large path....... Now the next question is have they sunk into the landscape or is the soil and grass roots multiplying to give one the inclination that the path needs to be lifted..............Nahhhhhhhh I will just be content to leave it as a quaint little path as it is and a chore that is binannual. Thanks Dad!!!!!11

One spouse sleeps another toils...

So what does one do at 7:30 am when the better half is getting his beauty sleep? Clean gutters...... for the third a.m. this week there have been 1/2 composted leaves on my deck. I was armed with ladder, bucket and rubber gloves..... I must have been a site.. Worst yet there was no one about to witness my work. Another job off the list!
