Tomorrow is another day!

It is only 7:15 and the days are getting shorter. The water has risen in the river after heavy rainfalls and most of the boats are in.
Leaves are starting to turn and lightly fall, you can tell Thanksgiving is just around the corner!

One lonely apple

Is it or isn't it? You will have to bite to be sure
I have two apple trees (1) is a golden delicious (2) Granny Smith
Can't remember which is which but I suspect this is the golden delicious??
It is a mini tree that had two varieties along with that #1 tree

This is one of the last apples on the tree the others fell off and are in my window sill waiting for me to make apple crisp out of them.
I saw after I took the pic that a wasp was visiting the tree
Hmm it must be a golden deliciuos becuase those Granny Smith sure have a bite to them!

We will leave it for Ben to sample and see what he thinks. He doesn't like the sour apples
I will play it with a straight face!

Out with the old in with the newer

Yes we have two posts
The old post at the back used to be the base of my swing mail box.Sadly it rotted, in it's day it was great when that old snow plough shot snow full force and no damage would occur as the mailbox gave way and swung on it's pivot. The planter was added so it did not look so sad- it needed a little something!

Now the next question you are going to ask is????
Why two posts?
AHHA
You of so little faith.................
The numbers are on the posts - they are civic addresses devised by the 911 system for uniformity. When we go south in the winter we pull up the first post with the mailbox on it
The secondary post is stationary and stays therefore being compliant to municipal law and our property remains numbered.

The first mailbox I had handpainted by a lady at work for my daughter.I brought it home when she moved.I put the new numbers on to hide her hand painted number. Then I put it on a post and inserted it into a cement foot_ a deck claw!Put my plants around it and no one knows it is removable in one swoop!!

Many moons ago ( circa 1992)

One day a goose was at our door, It apparently made friends with our dog, I managed to coral the dog and put her in her outside pen, The goose nestled down right besie the dogs pen and attacked me when I tried to let the dog out. The goose was donated to a sanctuary and immediatley flew away - obviously it had been someone's pet. Another neighbor told me the goose took flight from the shore and landed in his boat while he was out for a joy ride. The goose seemed to be right at home and not wanting to leave the craft. HMMMMMMMMm wonder where Loosey Goosey is now?

It was a fun filled day

I had the pleasure of touring through a home grown woolen mill.
The husband and wife team raise Alpacca's and along the way they started up their own mill. From washing, carding, spinning they do it all. Old mother runs the retail outlet filled with woolen articles she has knitted. It was amazing to see that the wife's experiment with a spinning talent lead to a full time job for the three. Not to mention a fibre mill in house. The enormous mass of the machinery is hard to contemplate, the ingenious machinery some hand crafted by husband contained in three small areas.. This was truly a family affair ....

Times are a changing and I have to keep up.......

One little phone and 7 hours later.
The phone beeped at 7:30 am my daughter text me she was in line for a phone - 30 people ahead of her. 4 hours later there were 5 people in front of her. 7 hours later she had to report for work - no phone in hand. She sweet talked them into holding the phone until tonight when she could pick it up, She had after all waited in line all these hours.

SO what is wrong with this picture.
Small cute black phone of mass communication that you have to sign a contract for and owe the phone company oodles. AND YOU HAVE TO wait in line to pay for that pleasure? What ever happened to the customer that waited for the vendor to treat them to sales pitches ? Instead the vendor is dictating and the customers are reporting in - in droves!

Now I ask you - do you think that they are spending my old age retirement fund. Aren't they supposed to be saving for my old age home?

Purple Purple everywhere!

Purple loosestrife is now found throughout most of North America.
Spreading like wild fire it's seed heads blown as cars pass bye and infiltrate dormant soil. It covers farmers fields, overtaking crop and undisturbed fields. Pretty but a nuisance as it sweeps the land taking over fields and watershed areas. Downgrading wetlands and destroying fish habitats. If you see it pick it, remove the seed heads. If you can't dig it up, cut it back your neighboring farmers will thank you for it.

Want to do your homework?

Wish I had legs like this gal!

The Heron mates for life I am told..
For at least a decade we had one pesky critter that would land on my boat top preying for unsuspecting fishes below. As he or she glided over the water top their wingspan five feet wide, they would swoon over their prey. Showing off their white underbelly and grey feathers on top. I suspect that white underbelly would camouflage the bird to be mistaken as a lowly cloud to the said fish.
The old fellar must have finally died or given in. We now have two birds on our beach overseeing the Canadian Goose ( Lincoln Goose to the Yanks). They appear to stand on guard within a few meters of each other. We have never seen two mates before, how exciting! Maybe next spring we will see a whole family of the lanky stick like creatures!

The little hideaway

This is our homepark for our Bytowner Good Samers. We camp here on occasion with as many as 35 rigs to celebrate long weekends and our friendship. The campgound is a small private park located just east of Kingston ON and sits close to the Highway to the south directly north of Watertown, NY on the US side of the border.

This is a brochure that I created in PDF for our fibre guild.
It was a hit and soon to be printed
I tinker when I am not being creative in my crafts and homefront

Here is what I design in my spare time
