Creative Complaining...............

I was merrily working on my never ending list of projects, this time an applique quilt top. WEll , everything was marvey until.............. The fusable web on the applique that one was to iron onto the base fabric would not stick. I tried a bucketful of things from reading and following the directions, to washing fabric to get rid of errant die and sizing. I even tired ignoring the instructions- no go. But then again I was going to stitch the applique so that fabric not sticking is not that much of an issue- just a pricey one.

Hmm me thinks I should write to the company and ask for hints. I told them what I had done, all my variations and the end product. I had used another product and not disappointed but this was a waste of my time and effort not including the expense. Then again I did purchase it at Joann's with my 50% off.

My complaining did not go unnoticed. I managed to get a free offer. YIPPEE and sure I will send you some left overs. Today the package came, I guess I was pretty influential, BECaUSE I only thought I was getting a mere 1/4 yard. Instead I got 2 yards of heavy duty more expensive product.

Thank you PELLON!!

It is finally my day

First the garage that mucked up the car and came clean I got the rotors fixed up for free.

It took about 2 hours to finish the job and the staff kept a close eye on me and me on them. I assume they were nervous I might start picketing outside their business. Once finished I went off to the Transmission place and had my Transmission Oil and my Differential Oil . I had a multitude of reading material placed in front of me, no coffee- they were watching my caffeine intake. Must have heard about the wild Canadian from up the street.

The owner of the business and I had a chat about the little black bombshell and the amount of mileage on it,in no time the fluids were checked and topped up. " No charge lady" .. OK so maybe my luck is changing or they have decided that maybe they just want me out of town

Don't Harass the fix it guy!!

Day two and lets see what happens!

Yesterday I took our squeaky car in for repair, I had interviewed the garage and made sure that they were able to do what needed to be done, let alone work on a German import. Everything is fine and dandy yes MAM! So Ben and I dropped off the car, we had a neighbor escort. I had checked with 2 neighbors who said the place was reputable..

Well they picked the wrong person to cheat!~ The car was supposedly fixed until you made a right turn out of the car lot. I drove a mile, pulled a few wheelies in the shopping lot and low and behold the fix it place was worthless. Not only did they not perform the most important test that we asked to be done, they screwed up and replaced the back brakes leaving the front untouched.

They must have heard me coming ( literally) and met me in the driveway, the car repair owner did not want me in his shop, Well of course I was livid. I said to him " did you hear me come down the street with this squeak". Then he said he test drove it 6 times around his building - note all left hand turns. Now he did another test drive the car is now screaming on stops and right turns. It was not only the money it was the fact they LIED to me, then they told me they were performing the oil and differential check which they could never do because they did not have the equipment...They told me they were replacing my brakes after a brake inspection and they did not do one or else they would have found the front was the problem not the back.

I dropped the car off at 8 am the first person there and the car was not looked at until 3 and I got a call at 4:20 that the car was ready, note the garage closes at 5. I was back in the lot at 4:30. Yet to be inconvenienced one more day, I thought they should miss their supper and fix me up , as they kept me waiting all day for a half ass job

So today I am slotted in for 9:30 when the rotors on the front will be turned FOR FREE!I guess the look on my face and the stern voice made them think they do not want this ticked off Canadian to explode.

Check back to see if the car guy survives me, I am off to see him and once the brakes are done I am off to the transmission service to see what they can do for me. Hopefully I won't meet another idiot today and please pray for those I meet!

You know it is time to quit when...............

I aligned my applique for the first of 12 sections that will make up my wall hanging.

Carefully placed I started to peel off the backing of the applique so I could glue to the underfabric, NOT, The backing and the glue came off. Carefully I tried again - no luck,so now I decided to press both sides of the applique, let it cook and then score the paper backing, apply to the fabric and iron, IT WORKED. The manufacturer was skimpy on the fusible web.

Moving right along I used an invisible thread on top and a cotton below, I outlined all of the appliques, Ok I am on a roll WHEN I notice grease on the fabric that was not there before, OK I can deal with that little spot, Minutes later 1 became three! SO I stop wipe down my whole machine and it;s workings, GREASE BLACK GREASE on the needle arm. Now off I can continue,

Finished I wash the fabric with hot water and soap, NO it is not going to work. Now I am pissed- but creative! My applique flowers now have a Red Robin and a little butterfly. While on a roll I send an email to the Manufacturer of the fusible web that I was using and explained what was happening and they wanted a piece of product. I told them what the product was my problem and I was not going to pay for postage on top of the loss of fabric I had to deal with . They agreed with me what the problem was- heck I could see it- they did not have to approve, Well low and behold they offered me freebies....

Now who can turn up a freebie - Not only that I am getting 4 X what I had to throw out and a better quality product. YIPPEE

What does $5 get you?

We had a rummage sale in the park and look what I got .............
A edger, not only an edger , it will dig a small trench.
We used it to fine tune the edge of the property that buts onto the
pavement. It did a great job, Ben worked the edger and I was the cleanup crew!
One side of the lawn done part 2 tomorrow!

It may be many moons till

You hear from me again. I have really done it this time. I was looking for something to keep the old mind active, a bit of a puzzle without the puzzle. I hummed and hawed. I could read a book and fall asleep on chapter 1, study crossword puzzles for words I do not know. Try mind twisters to all of our embarrassment or find an appealing quilting pattern.HMMM you know the answer don't you?

So I decided on paper piecing, obviously I had no recollection of the last time I did it. I just had to pick a pattern with itsy bitsy teeny weany scraps of fabric. An 8" block with over 48 seams in it, YES I SAID 48. Not only that the pattern is the mirror image so you have to remember what your background color is and what is your main theme color. Otherwise reverse them and you are out of the game.It is not an easy feat, after 2 hours I only accomplished one 4 x4 block but I did get into the swing of things, lets see if I remember tomorrow.

Similar to looking for a needle in the haystack... if you don't find it - it will stick you in the end! SO stay tuned and hopefully sometime next week I might get one block totally done with pics to follow. Then again I might be bald, frustrated and tranquilized!!
