Good folliage makes good neighbors

Ever want to deter visitors from coming to your home
Plant this Poison Ivy..............
It is cheap, everywhere, loves crappy soil, and doesn't require any special attention. One swipe on an unsuspecting leg - rash, and itching appear almost instantly. The poison ivy plants loves sand based soil- of which I have plenty.
It is a quiet plant hidden below others and noxious as noxious can be.

BUT it is cheaper than fencing, doesn't need to be painted or stained and is best left.Cheap protection!

Hosta's wrost friend

For days I thought the deer had been eating my price garden and then I saw it all white, looppy eared and fuzzy. My neighbors let their new pet out all night and then shut him up during the day. Too bad he doesn't eat their plants!

Dunrobin Road expected to reopen late Wednesday
Debris from rainstorm clogged culvert

Dunrobin Road expected to reopen late Wednesday. Construction crews work to replace the road bed beneath Dunrobin Road, near Constance Bay. Dunrobin Road is expected to reopen late Wednesday, Aug. 18.Construction crews are currently working to replace part of the road washed out by last Sunday’s rainstorm. A detour has been in place directing traffic around the closure between and Kinburn Side Road and Constance Bay Road.
The heavy rains filled a creek and water was forced up and over Dunrobin Road, eventually washing away the shoulder, making the road unsafe.
According to a member of the repair crew, debris from nearby private properties – including logs and chopped wood – were washed into the creek and then clogged the two-metre-wide culvert beneath Dunrobin Road.
The repairs are expected to be complete by late Wednesday. One repair crew member said the road, culvert and guardrails will be replaced exactly as they were prior to Sunday’s storm. He could not say if the city plans to increase the frequency of culvert maintenance in order to clear debris on a regular basis.
West Carleton-March Coun. Eli El-Chantiry was among those who called the city’s 311 hotline when he came across the washout. He congratulated community members such as Glen Byrne who took the time to travel other area roads in search of washout and stranded drivers.
“We are so lucky to have people like that in our community,” El-Chantiry said. “Here they take the time and gas money and everything else.”
He added that he is impressed with how quickly crews are working to reopen the road, noting that 6,000 tons of gravel has been used on the job.
