SKUNK 0 BEN 1
We have a development. We sprayed ammonia around the garage, then filled the hole with sand, rocks and blocks. This morning I snuck out and peeked, no disturbing of the skunks habitat. Ben was wondering if the skunk was in the garage itself - I reminded him if that was true we would have met him head on. Then Ben wondered if I should not crawl under the garage into the den to see if one penned up skunk was there. Me thinks that Ben should get down on his hands and knees and call for the skunk at his front door..
Funny how both of us are not quick to take up the other's suggestions!

And just in case it happens again I will have this on hand...............
http://mom.me/home/1322-recipe-getting-rid-skunk-odor/
Pets or People
Step 1
Mix 1 quart 3-percent hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda and 1 tsp. liquid dishwashing soap in a plastic spray bottle. This amount is enough for a small dog; double or triple the batch for larger pets or a person.
Step 2
Spray your pet or person thoroughly with the mixture.
Step 3
Rub your pet or person with your gloved hands for five minutes to allow the spray to saturate.
Step 4
Rinse your pet or person well. If the smell is not gone, repeat steps 1 through 3.
House and Other Objects
Step 1
Mix 1 cup bleach and 1 quart water in a plastic spray bottle.
Step 2
Apply the bleach solution to an inconspicuous area to test for colorfastness of house or object.
Step 3
Spray the mixture on the house or other object, thoroughly saturating the area the skunk sprayed.
Step 4
Wait for the area to dry. Repeat steps 1 and 3 if the smell is not gone.
Lawn
Step 1
Mix 1 gallon white distilled vinegar and 1 cup liquid dishwasher detergent in a bucket.
Step 2
Pour the mixture into a backpack garden sprayer.
Step 3
Spray any areas of your yard that carries the skunk smell. The solution will neutralize the scent on contact.

SKUNK
Ben smells like skunk, we think there is one living under the garage in the back section. Ben poured ammonia around the garage and found an entrance/exit hole that some critter dug. The whole place stinks the car is being aired and the garage, the aroma is not as pleasant as garlic.
I made Ben strip and the clothes are airing on the line. He thinks he doesn't smell, Where are the clothes pins for my nose.. Those clothes absorbed the sweet smell of skunk why do you think I did not jump in the help him> Would have looked pretty funny if we all were standing at the side of the house stripping. What would the neighbors think. LOL

I should have just stuck to sewing! In my quest to behave I decided to attack one kitchen cupboard, you hvae no idea what hides in there! First you open the door and just in side are dozens of ( at one time) important notes that were taped to the door, some actually had a sticky backing to them. A little goop gone and we were good to go. Then out came the cleanser to make the inside of the door glisten once again!
Moving into the cupboard a dangerous hole there was a little gift bag that had seen better days, now filled with receipts and paperwork that was once needed. Now the instruments that they belonged to are long gone. Oh the cupboard seems lighter than before. I think I heard a sigh.
Moving on to food and collections I group the similar ingredients and food groups now I come upon a large old peanut butter jar filled with pens, markers, kiddies paint brushes. I don't toss it as I am sure the minute I do I will need it's precious contents.
I decide to revisit that cupboard before we leave for our trip - I can take dry foods with me and rather than leave them here for the mice I will make good use of them
Now the big question ? How long will this cupboard stay neat and arranged? 24 hours?? I call it my make work project

Our little hydro dam
Galleta is a small little community that if you snooze you loose. It sits on the Mississippo River just south of the Ottawa River.
I pass it often on our way to the next town to get groceries and supplies. First settled in 1823 and peppered with a few houses, families originated from Irish settlers to work in one of several mills wollen, spinning, timber, potash mines. the lumber industry and prospecting the Ottawa River for gold and of course the power generating plant in later years
The generating plant built in 1907. The original town was prosperous with the general store on the main drag ( still standing and closed) the original boarding house for laborers demolished in the 1990's . The railway is used seldom but is still operational

Would it surprise you ...................
If I planned my trip from Ottawa to Florida mapping out the way by Joann's fabric stores that are along the route? Do you think you know who would notice? Most importantly do you think that he knows it is already on the agenda and would not be one bit surprised!~ Perhaps he has already started a Pool to see how long I will last before going through complete withdrawal

From the vine and into the pot!
A few soft tomatoes, blanched, seeded and squished for a better word. Chopped onion and a little garlic- ok by taste a lot of garlic.Salt and pepper and a shot of chilli powder.
Mix them all together and stick them in the slow cooker forget about it and a few hours later we have tomato sauce, no fuss no muss.
Now the problem ?? No hamburg to make the meatballs with, Oh well it will keep a few more days!

Last PC quilt example
The top pic is the front of the quilt and this is the back, see the scribbles this was done by my PC robotic quilter and not me, I just sat and watched it, The time saved allowed me to embroider this quilt label.Notice the red/yellow trim on the quilt? I used lots of leftovers to complete the bind, it had blended in just dandy!

PC quilter
Makes short order of things, It only took 2 hours to quilt a full sized quilt but more time to trim and bind them. Below is some examples of what the machine does with me at the helm!
Here are pics of front and back

My excuse was it was a cool morning
Once done I had no excuses left and once we had lunch overwith outside we went. We scrubbed and prissed that pontoon boat getting it ready for hibernation, Tomorrow after it is thoroughly dried out we will wrap it for it's fall / winter siesta. Followed of course by yardwork and then sorting of the yardwaste for collection. Yep I am just too exciting for my own good!

Down by the waterfront,.. Down by the water's edge
Our dock is only a few years old.. but it is scary. The water level is low and if you have a V shaped boat good luck trying to get in and out of that sucked with his dock sticking up 6'above the water surface. SO the city finally listened to boaters- you know those people that actually put their boat in the water. What did they come up with ? A two teared boat launch, The ramp and lower section is free floating depending on the height of the water. And just to top it off there is a swanky ladder that you can get from one dock surface to the other. Hmm wonder what the makeup cost was? Looks good but do you see anyone using it?

Out for our walk
There are about 40 acres of Torbolton Forest across the street from us. I took a walk with hubby and we found an abundance of poison ivy, grapevines, flocks, goldenrod- the wild berries have all diminished. Soon the Oak and Maple foliage will turn color. In the mean time that poison ivy is sure flourishing!

Off to the big city of Arnprior
Arnprior is a cute little town close to where we live. The century old storefronts are lined with flowers and intimate outdoor seating. The large Bell tower is on the present day Museum. We visit here to do our groceries as it is close by and there is a selection of stores to shop at in a very small radius. There is no hustle and bustle of the big city , movies can be seen for a fraction in the big city - I have included a pic ( last one) of the theatre. Most importantly the parking is free and the parking lots not over spilled and a nightmare to navigate.

There is no reason to repeat history so I am sharing these links with you
