After a little research I found..............

I wonder which orange tree that Ben and I have been munching on

It appears that Hamlin and Valencia were the oranges of choice for the leesburg area until the great freeze in 1990. When a new " sweet orange" called Ambersweet that was frost resistant was introduced and gov't subsidized for the orange growers. The orange growers were not impressed or able to loose their crops for the change over. Those that lost their orchards were in a position to replant their crops with the new introduction . However at this time land was valuable and an opportunity for orange growers who suffered the greatest loss to sell up to developers.

I suspect that "our " tree is a Hamlin
