30 years and counting

Over worked and under appreciated. My wheelbarrow frame snapped and Ben laughed as I walked down the street, wheel in one hand and barrow in the other. Who needs weight lifting exercises? Now it has a completely rebuilt undercarriage and all back together so I can keep working

And this is why I was never allowed at the easel

Apparently I was not so good at coloring, artwork or working with scissors. Everyone was crowded at the easel. Mom was quite talented with the potter's wheel all of which I did not persue but went into textiles. Oddly there was no lineup at the sewing machine

Just one more piece

I have not lost any toes in this job I am expecting a wood splitter and this is the side view I have 22 of these huge pieces and then separated the already split wood and sorted it to stabilize the pile, next I am starting a pile of those pieces that are round - good sized branches that I do not need to split at all. I get out at 5 every am and work for about 45 minutes, dripping away. Hope I can finish the job by tomorrow before I get the heavy duty splitter, BOY am I praying for cool weather

This is called a care seat tent

It is to be secured to the baby carrier with the little blue velcro straps I made. It protects the baby from noise, weather and snoopy people. There are a few hundred hezagons as you can see

One never knows what they will find!

I have a new deck arrangement

First I lasooed a carpet that is an indoor outdoor one that I changed up in my solarium for the convenient carpet tiles( you know the ones Ben picked out for the kitchen with the 25 yr guarantee that I hated from day one) I did not remember that I had tucked this green gem in the loft of the garage. AHHA> So down it came I had enough for the deck ( 8 X 14) and another chunk for future use at the front entry .

The chairs were another story - a neighbor moving out- threw these onto the curbside and I went over with my wheelbarrow they were indeed free. They stack and the seats and back are vinyl- perfect for wiping off.

The tables I had stuck in a corner of the solarium, The milk can I have been protecting for 20+ years and the plant cost me $4- all dried out and assumed for dead until I blasted it with water. There we go total makeover cost $4 for the plant.

Admission fee- Free so far

And they came 2 X 2

I took every strip of scrap I had and cut it to 2 X 2" pieces. Nothing goes to waste in my sewing room. I had made a few scrap quilts and this one is a full sized, I trimmed it with blue speckled cotton and a smaller white inner border. It all works well and will soon be packaged up and on it's way.

Just a little more clean up

on the outside before the next process. All closed in and inside is almost sorted. A few pieces of wood remain that we need to address. But it won't be long to clean up our leftovers

One lonely bag

I am waiting for pickup, this lonely bag called the dumpster bag is pretty much most of the construction refuse that was not useful. We were able to save a lot of straight and clean 2 X 4 for some future adventures.

It is all coming together and now for a few weeks break before the siding takes place.
The inside of the garage is coming along with many trips to recycle and Ben building loads of new shelving to store what we have and then some. As we rest from this part of our redo Ben will continue to weed out his many historic pieces that need to be recycled

Little Ted is the man

It is never to early to get a birdseye view of that front driver seat and see what it is all about and why MOM and DAD are the only ones up front

Ted and MOM watched some one mowing the lawn and it was so loud on my ears I gasped in surprise as the neighbors " clean their lawn".

The parents told Ted he had to have his supper but he knew he had not finished his chores so he parked the vacuum beside him so he could get right back to work

And now the house is almost clean - a little touch up here and there

My peepers are buggy

O

This little quilt only took me two days but boy was all the stitching hard on the eyes white on white what was I thinking! Obviously not because I dismantled my robotic quilter to do this so that there will not be any overlay on the birds. Boy what a job .. Never again .. Then again I am getting forgetful!

While Ben is buried in the garage trying to make a pathway

You can imagine all the years of his stashing and now he has to face the music, I am staying out of his way! When he is done his purging, we have had three trunk fulls to electronic recycle so far, I am getting out the dumpster.

I purchased a bag from THEBAGSTER.COM. It works like a soft sided dumpster and a lot less expensive. So far we have had neighbors wanted building material so they are helping us out by taking some, but you should see my yard, UCH.

The dumpster will be placed at the road side when we are ready and a truck will come and scoop it up , never to be seen before and a lot less mess then trying to drive around a real dumpster. Can you imagine it holds 3300 pound sound like a lot until I look in the garage!! That is it I am in hiding while Mr does the work. Once everything is purged then we can get on with the outer portion of prettyup!

When I peaked out the kitchen window look who I saw on the lower roof? The shingles are slowly removed, the woodpile underneath is pretty large and awaits a kerplunk any moment. Less then 2 hours that roof is off, the shingles in a pile the roof wood frames are stacked.  The previous day Ben removed the large garage door as a storm had picked it up and twisted the garage and the back section of the garage that we need to remove
Stay tuned for the next exciting reveal, if you look at the roof line you will see a dimple that is the back half of the garage we need to unload and then once it is empty-- time to demolish. It will take 2 days to empty all the goodies into the original garage building.

Guess who is up top peeling more shingles off , he will be so glad to say goodbye to that job

And on day three this is where we discovered the sheeting was anchored with spiral nails, never to be removed. With a combination of saws and pry bars, hammers.. it finally gave way. I am the clean up patrol I removed the wood and piled it and took every nail out of the wood so there will be no injuries- we hope.

So tomorrow am I guess it is roof trusses- lets see how smoothly that goes!
