Chew, yank , drag .....

Hubby has a new toy , a saw on a stick. WIfy had a number of bushes that needed to be thinned out. The end result will be one huge Marshmellow roast next week! Now I can see out to the street and the neighbors can rest assured that the neighborhood watch lady is on the job!

Here I am ......

Good night Irene..............

Nothing but strong winds while the rest of the Eastern Seaboard is pelted by rain, winds, and flooding. I watch the wind whip around our boat, bobbing up and down, a stark difference from my 6 am outdoor adventure. Hubby won't let me out of the house worried that a tree might fall on top of me. I wonder if I should go and visit a neighbor. His comment " You'll never make it" as the wind howls..

Tomorrow promises to be a calmer day, the weather alerts south of us will abate in the morning, and once again Jane can harass the neighbors!

Just a regular day at the Homestead

My ceilings were painted on Thursday and the pungent odor still hung in the air. At 5 am I got up to open the window to air out the house, seemed like a nice breeze off the water. I laid down on the chesterfield for a quick snooze thinking I might nod of until...let's say 6 am. Oh NO!!! My sniffer was working and I could smell that the paint odor seemed to be worse with the patio door opened. I stuck my noise out and I may have been dopey 5 seconds before but that odor made the eyes water. SKUNK. Now I tell you it was very hard to decipher between that skunk and the paint odor, they almost matched.. Closed the house up again and waited for a 1/2 hour. Then tried the routine again...

I wonder which neighbors' dog was wearing a new fragrance today?

Here is my machine in action

Click on the pics and......................
Look closely you can see my machine and the detail I am adding, I placed a mirror underneath the quilting bed and you can see my stitching. I am a novice on this gizmo but learning quickly. The quilt is a 5 X 5 square and I am going to have quilted every 4 " of quilt. Once I finish the body of the quilt I will turn it and do the border detail. I have a clear polyester thread on top of the quilt and a variegated thread on the underside that is a fawn and brown mix.
We will see how it turns out!!

A friend asked me to write my tales into a book of Jane's world. Well as I was entering my blog I noticed a little add This is great and no problem no more editing wondering what to write,I can or you can turn your blog into a book! Genius and affordable...

I guess I am going to have to be a heck of a lot more entertaining!!

Snoopy investigator!!

On Friday I had my newspaper stolen, and I have a theory! The thief has to live close by enough to notice I get my newspaper out of enclosed mailbox rather than an open newspaper box, as supplied by the vendor. It has been years since this last happened and I successfully chased the ink print criminal.

SO far my detection is that this person works from Mon- Fri and passed my house anytime between 6:30-7 am. They must sleep in on the weekend as my usual 6 am pick up hasn't been hampered. It was the one day that I was delayed in getting the news that the thief took their opporutnity.

So Monday am with digital camera in hand I will await the assailant. I will get up while it is still dark and pick up my paper swap it for a dummy one and wait... Wonder who she or he is? HMMM My second theory that it has to be a multiple dwelling as two of us lost our papers and we live in a row.. Any guesses?

DIve Bombs!

AS I look outside my window I see a strange creature on the beach
A blad headed eagle, as I rush to get my camera a platoon of snow geese started
to dive bomb the eagle. He was on their territory, Off he flew into the wild blue yonder to the Quebec side of the river. Mission completedl

Grey Freckles?

Today we ran all am and after coming home I had a revelation
I was going to sand my boat trailer.
Now adorned with nice new tires, and last year spruced up with carpet on the support beams, I decided today was the day, It is very windy to go out in the boat unless you want to be soaked from head to toe!! Out came Ben's drill, sire whisk attached. And yes I did try to hand sand the rust with the wire brush but that was too time consuming.

Guess what color I painted the trailer? Grey.. therefore more freckles - grey ones to show that I actually worked today. I was so into painting I did not notice the grey slop on Ben's new tire ,he got down on one knee ( he never did that for me) and he scrubbed that tire. Followed by news paper around his oh so precious purchase.

Now we have a swank trailer, boat redone, it is a wonder that Martha Stewart has not come ot visit!

Oh Yeah of little faith!

See the boat, see the boat float! That is right we are seaworthy and in the drink.
Where is Ben you ask well..................
Our friend that put the boat in the water with his tractor kidnapped our Ben and the trailer
Gerry is a good friend and generous beyond belief, he just had to help ....
He decided to removate the trailer this afternoon and make guides to allow the boat to float onto the trailer without listing to one side. As a result the men are hard at work at Gerry's abode. Or should I say that Gerry is hard at work and Ben is supervising
