That is right folks we have gone from tornado warnings to heavy rain and thunder and lightening. We are all comfy and dry, my little car canopy almost collapsed with the rain last night, But we squished the water away and it is fine. I made the Jane's fix. That would be a selection of heavy duty clothes pins to hold the canopy tighter to the frame so it can deflect the water. Now Ben has on his list to put some large grommets we have into the puddling of the canopy so if it fills up again in the middle of the night it will drain.Needless to say we will wait until the storm is over. Lucky for Ben I have a selection of tools and odd bits some of which proved to be worth keeping.
Because of the heavy rain, I thought , I will do some geneology work that a distant Kin sent to me. Never a dull moment in this household

Oh how I love pink.............
If you want to grow a tree you have to have one with spunk
Why not purchase one that was named after you?
I bought a Jane Magnolia and the pictures are above.
SO far so good another few days we should be open fully
A member of the "Little Girl" group of hybrid magnolias developed in the mid-fifties at the U.S. National Arboretum. Hardy shrub or small tree. Impressive reddish purple flowers outside, white inside opening late in spring to avoid frost damage. Flowers are a gorgeous tulip-shape with a lightly scented fragrance. Leaves are dark green and somewhat leathery in appearance. Great choice for any accent, specimen, or border use. Grows 10'-15' high. Grows best in full morning sun and partially shaded afternoons. Prefers rich, moist, and well-drained soils.

Bad Connection?
What happens when 2 old farmers, one set of spring chicks , a back hoe and Park employees get together? One word.. HAVOC.. My neighbor BOB had a " once" orange tree that had bit the dust. Other neighbors, RUSS, the Canadian compliment - Rena and Larry , started hacking sawing and generally butchering that old piece of wood. Then it got down to the nitty gritty, the earth was moved around the tree, digging for gold they released the roots. Then time for the artillery.. The park was called in , the park workers secured said tree to the backhoe with chains to yank that sucker from the bed it had been in for 40 years. Yep that was it, one two three, yank up come the roots and the cable cord. Hmm wonder whose TV and phone is not working>
A temporary line was strung across the road, Oh where oh where is the break in that line?? Hmm well gall darn it why don't we dig it up and see..........................

I missed a perfect opportunity to take a pic!!
Wonder why these chairs are empty
Here we are and He survived.
Ben spent the morning under the rv
He scraped the undercarriage with a wire brush, applied oil and let it soak for a month
Today he returned for part 2 of the job and put rubberized undercoating all over the undercarriage. YES he did wear his old work clothes that I threw out afterwards. Reaking of that tar based product and added skin color he was shown the way to the public showers. Now clean he is allowed onto the premises. Hmm wonder what we will do tomorrow

One whipped Hubby
Today we received another two blinds in the saga of Jane VS Ebay
After much reserach I found that 2 blinds hung side by side are much preferred over one large one
We received them at 9 am today
Our friends were to arrive by 11:00 am
By 10:30 am we finished the blinds, set up the furniture again and vacuumed all the evidence
After a well rewarded lunch Hubby finds time to read the paper, maybe even take a short snooze
He is on vacation until the next project.....
There are two in the wings, so you will have to say in touch to see what they are...........
I can't tell you now becuase you would have nothing to surprise you .....

What is wrong with this scenario
I have a very dear friend and it goes like this..................
You see we are probably both type A personalities.
One Hyper one not so hyper.
Both are stubborn to the core and know what we want.
One is a procrastinator and one is not.
Can you guess which one I am ?
So now comes the scenario
One Year ago she asked me to help her with her blinds, I should have known better! Those day and night shades are lovely until the string breaks and there you are with replacement kit in hand. And what do you do.. call 911 Jane. So we have a whale of a time, taking the blinds apart was an effort - stringing them was interesting. SO after all was said and done it took us an evening. We were enlightened and realized that we could have benefited from taking notes so this year we would be able to refer to them. OHOH.. With the shades anchored on the valance, all restrung we left the tensioning to my friend- that was last year remember?. Well lets just say one year later they sagged as they were left.SO today was the appointed day. Off we went to fix the friends blind, hubby encouraged us by giving us lots of enthusiasm in the go girls dept.
Suddenly a knock at the door, hubby appeared wondering if wife had strangled herself or her friend. Thank GOD!! We were literally tied in knots. The engineering hubby tinkered with precision and the blind was fit and in place, working as if new.
Then it happened as we turned around we saw another blind on it's last leg with one broken string. We were able to reserect it, by tying off one lonely string and re tensioning the blind. Maybe next year it will need to be restrung. Any volunteers???

Home Improvement 101
As everyone knows I love to shop..Our RV binds are looking a might sad but very functional. The valances are dust collectors- I put my thinking cap on!
I went to my favorite source EBAY..On there I got two blinds that fit perfectly and then turned to hubby After a little push and pull the blinds released. Leaving us with further work to doNow there was no excuse but to put those blinds up
Because they are day night shades they are light filtering and capable of doing a nice job. With the dust collectors ( valances) off now I can swift away.Let's see if I can find more of those blinds just the right size to adorn the rest of the room!
Here is hoping!

NO you can not have your cake and eat it tooo!!
Today is the park picnic and the natives are restless. My friend has had the pleasure of ordering the food and it is going to be a humdinger of a party. 1200 yes 1200 eaters!
The menu consists of bot belly doggies ( fat hot dogs with no perservatives), chips, water ( to reduce the calories of what we just ate) and cake for desert.
Soon I will troddle off and see if I can be of assistance. I have been delegated to slice and dice the cake. 20 cakes and 1200 pieces. Let's see how long it is before I get fired. I am not to sample while I cut, my directions are clear. I am armed with knife and pizza cutter- oops maybe I should take bandaids with me. Should be an interesting am!

Growing Wildfire Prompts Evacuations, Closes Highways
Emergency Shelters Open In Mims, Titusville
in Orlando, FL ,OAK HILL, Fla. --
A growing brush fire in Volusia County prompted the closure of Interstate 95 and U.S. 1 in parts of Brevard and Volusia counties on Monday. The fire was burning near Oak Hill in Volusia County. Authorities said the fire had consumed 4,000 acres by early evening and was still growing.
Fire Jumps Interstate
Authorities with the Florida Highway Patrol said the 21-mile stretch of I-95 between state Road 442 and state Road 46 remained closed as of 10 p.m. They also closed U.S. Highway 1 from state Road 5A to state Road 442.
Authorities said drivers traveling south on I-95 will have to exit off onto SR 44 in New Smyrna Beach, while drivers traveling north on I-95 will have to exit off onto SR 46 in Mims.
U.S. Highway 1 was reopened just before 6 p.m., but it was closed again at about 9:30 p.m., when officials reported that the flames had jumped the highway.
The closures and detours may last through the morning commute, fire officials said.
Brevard Public Schools also announced that Pinewood Elementary School in Mims will be closed on Tuesday due to smoke and fire in the area. Also, bus transportation services for students north of S.R. 46 will not be available due to safety concerns and road closures.
All other schools in Brevard County will be open on Tuesday.
Officials said winds were pushing the blaze to the northeast late Monday.
The blaze also crossed into Brevard County on Monday afternoon and prompted authorities to order an evacuation for the Crystal Lake RV Park near Scottsmoor. The RV park is along SR 5A near I-95.
Late Monday, emergency officials called for a voluntary evacuation of residents living in the area bordered by C.R. 5A on the north, S.R. 46 on the south, U.S.1 on the east and the St. Johns River on the west.
Fire Tops 4,000 Acres
Voluntary Evacuations
Officials said those who live within those borders are encouraged to stay with friends or family outside the area threatened by the brush fire.
A shelter was opened at the Cuyler Community Center at 2329 Harry T. Moore Ave. in Mims. The Red Cross has opened a second shelter at Sandrift Recreation Center located at 595 N. Singleton Ave. in Titusville.
Firefighters from Brevard County, Division of Forestry, Edgewater and Volusia County are working to contain the blaze.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known. Fire officials said they will investigate once the flames have been extinguished.
Other Brush Fires Ignite
A brush fire near U.S. Highway 441 in Apopka caused problems for Orange County firefighters Monday afternoon.
Authorities said the blaze was burning in a wooded area that was not reachable by fire crews, but it was not threatening any homes.
Officials with the U.S. Forestry Service also worked to extinguish a brush fire in the Ocala National Forest Monday night.
Authorities with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said the fire consumed 30 acres off state Road 19 north of Marion County, just inside the Putnam County line.
Firefighters from Marion and Putnam counties helped in the effort to bring the blaze under control. No homes were threatened.

Dr. President Obama
I am writing to you today to request a reprieve. You are interested in charging Canadian Snowbirds $5.95 per person on land and sea entry to the USA> While we are talking a tit for tat
I am requesting a payback of a portion of the 10.9 billion dollars that Canada used to bail out GM. A bailout that your country as well as ours is enjoying. Should I mention that GM had a great quarter, giving their employees raises- but no monetary gain is felt by the Canadian Gov't who funded the famous vehicle manufactuer.
Now let's go back in history. To 911, we all remember that day. One more piece of history when USA citizen's were downed in one of Canada's poorest provinces. Your countrymen were billited to homes to sustain the allien souls until the aviation airspace was deemed safe. The homes that they saught shelter were not expecting people to literally drop out of the skies and basic needs from toilet paper to milk flew off the store shelves at premium prices. Remember a Walmart was not just a hop skip and jump away. SO once again the Canadians paid and welcomed their USA cousins, and pleased to do this. Was there a toll> Was there a reward? Notta.
In short $5.95 for entry into the USA is not going to break the deal, however one thing is important to note that the Snowbirds bring in economy for 6 months into your country that would otherwise be spent above the border. Your unemployment is at 12% now with our tourism. What would it be if we were not in your midst. Hmm is the $5.95 really worth collecting?
I am waiting for your reply........................ And I am not charging for it!!
