Ben had a beloved black leather recliner, slim fit and perfect. But after 20+ years it's base was worn and broken. We tried to bring it back to life, replace it with something comparable but could not find it! Then I saw this all leather recliner, a break from our black, brown furniture but oo so comfy, I figured that if this lasted for another 20+ years we should go with comfort and high quality.
Delivered to our door it came in two pieces the back was quickly snapped on and the chairs feet bolted on. Of course placed strategically in front of the TV so that his highness would not have to " crane" his neck. Once assembled it was not long afterwards that a soft snoring could be heard. There was Ben sound asleep I guess the chair passed the test..
Now if I can only get him to work!!

Sometime a little ignoring pays off
I did something right! The only problem is it seems as if my apple trees have a blight and there will be no apples this year, however I was able to get all my other stock to flower. I have way too many hostas and lilly's but with no care they are easy keepers. These guys are a break from all my " greens"

I am not myself
I am still coughing and hacking, I did manage to get my house and yard up to snuff, the flowers in various planters and the lawn fertilized and reseeded. Soon to expect guests the house is getting cleaner by the minute, New pillows and bed memory foam topper. Next up to wash quilts oh and did I mention that I have one half started on the frame that I need to get too.
Ben has the summer pump up , the boat is ready for the river and hopefully in the next few days the river will be calm to drop it in.. The stairs are down to the river and an over abundance of branches line the shoreline for our big bonfire, when ever we get to that point!
I will take3 pics and be back with you soon!

Why is the little guy smiling?
I made him a few sets of fancy pants that will accomodate the stuffy puffy cloth diapers, there is more room needed around the hip area then straight pants will allow. As a Result here we are
Of course we hauled his grand dad to the store and of course Ben was attracted to the horse pattern.
Above are two view, the pants that I made are of a lycra ( like yoga pants) the legs are sewn first , then I added the waist and cuffs on the bottom. After that the crotch area is really one big circle. I inset it , whipped around twice with a straight stitch and all ready, Whole process took less than 1/2 hour he now has about 3 pairs, the cuff of the pants are extra long that way the pants will grow with him. However the knees may be the first to go as he is a speedy crawler. He cruises along the furniture but I am told he doesn't walk by himself yet!!!

Cold shower gives new meaning!
Ok so today was not my best, 2 X this afternoon while using the hose I placed it on the ground to go to the tap to turn it off. This thing had a mind of it's own and when I turned around. YEP you got it - cold shot right up between the legs and my back, I was in fits of laughter. Finished my work and then STRIPPED. Ok scenario number two --several hours later, I did the same darn thing and I came in the house quietly and said darling squeeze my butt, I had to hold the laughter as soon as he touched the drenched patooty he knew what I had done, we both roared

Plumbing 101
As you know Ben is the main cook and bottle washer. He was doing his duty yesterday when some colourful language was heard . There he was fawcet in hand, he had swing it between sinks when it let go- literally. Lucky for him the screw was still in place, you have no idea how finicky these things are, if not exactly aligned they won't spit water, and of course the screw is hidden in the back with a bout 1" clearance from the wall. His wife had bought an itsy screwdriver ( no not because it was cute looking) and I had a mirror to add to the collection, Just the right equipment for the job if one could see,
Luckily it did not need to be replaced only tightened up but what next.......

First there were 2 and then there was one
I lost a sock in the wash three weeks ago, I was the butt of all jokes. UNTIL the washer made a loud howling and would not pump out water or rinse,.Well off came the front of the stacked washer, that is incidentally wedged between the wall and the fridge.
While on hands and knees and surrounded by water. Mr pulled the hose off the pump
Out jumped the sock and now there are two!

Just imagine
Ben found a job for me, I sewed 5 panels 2 X 4 and slipped them on tension rods. We managed to use two long handled poles to push the first 3 place as we stood on the second flight of stairs, the last two windows took a little more planning. Ben weaved up the 20+ feet on the ladder with his extension pole , delicately pushing to rod into place.
Now wonder what the next project is.. SO far so good one more job off the list

When the power cuts out
what is one to do?
We decided to go to the next town for the a.m. and then out for lunch. Of course we had to visit the thrift shop for a few items that were of course much needed, Ben scored with his D-link router for a grand total of $3. I spent $7.50 on a pant press. I am not sure that they are popular anymore, however I had always wanted to own one. Not expecting to see this gem I wandered into the back room of the thrift shop when out of the corner of my eye I spotted my much needed prize object.
Now off to play!
