This is the Walmart courtyard in the Uptown Mall in Victoria, actually I think that it is in Saanich just on the Northern Border of Victoria, The courtyard is very picturesque as you can see, however I have not had a chance to sit down in it as it is usually raining when we are shopping, There are many shops that outline the courtyard from Starbucks to Cupcake Girls , Joe Fresh and Future Shop. Up above some of the store fronts are 2 bedroom Condo's for sale. The bonus is that Walmart is open till 11pm!!

Victoria's Bay Center- walking tour

In the heart of downtown there is so much to see.
We wandered into the Bay Center, although closed, it has comfy chairs and free wifi. It appears as if this location opened in 1990 as the Eaton's Center and then renamed when Eaton's closed it's door, In the Center high above is this copper clock each side has a small clock from various regions of the world. The clock dongs on the hour by the local time

Unfortunately there was too much glare but hopefully you get the idea of the super sized puppets
They were about 6 feet in stature

Not far from GOVERNMENT ST along our walk of numerous boutiques this building caught our eye, If you look closely you can see there were once windows in this spot. The windows appeared to have been removed and plywood put into their space. Then this lead the way for the murals you see below

We took a little side trip to Sydney BC

Sydney is a nartsy fartsy town with lots of little boutiques and art galleries, and on all four corners of the main street there is a national grocer.Only a 20 minute drive from Victoria it is a quiet little town that reminds me of many small towns in Ontario

Obviously a tourist spot it is also a small haven for retirees who want every necessity of life in a small village, The only thing I did not see was a hospital but I suppose greater Victoria would service them.

This is a taste of Victoria old homes

Many have been updated and some are retail and quite a few are multiple dwellings becausae of their size. Most in the downtown area are stone and there is a lot of stucco in most residential areas . Few have solid wood cladding as seen here
