Hot water is over rated!

Ben has put a timer on the hot water tank so that our electrical hot water tank is operating when the cost of electricity is lower. I am getting into the scheme of things. Get up and get planning!!! Hmm and just how long does the hot water last after the heater is turned off!

Hot water is a luxury right>>

Maybe I know what I am doing????

I am playing around with my longarm and have gotten somewhere I think, still lots to test out.
At least with each project I am trying something new so that I can get in the groove, I have so many
quilt tops to practice with- this is #3 this week, I need to finish it by Monday. YIKES!!

Bailey first try

I set up my Bailey long arm on my quilting frame and this was the results in 2 days
I have managed to stipple on most of the small quilt and then with the green/yellow I swirled away waves...
More to come once I get more time!

My New Toy

I have my long arm up and running , literally. I have 6 quilt tops to assemble and this weekend I finished top stitching and binding a twin and double bed cover. Only 4 more to go. I am hoping to get at number three this week, although it appears as if I will have some chores I must do. Hmm sleep is over rated isn't it???

You should see my sewing room, I might take a picture but you will not believe it, I have batting in bulk and had to leave 1/2 of it in the south as I was not able to bring it home! Between 3 sewing machines and an embroidery machine and my quilting frame I will soon have to stop and reorganize. Hopefully soon some of the finished projects will be out the door this week. Then maybe I can move!

Poor Ben has a similar problem with his endless electronics, but he is not as neat as I am, every once in awhile I mention it and I get a snear - well until the next time!

Snow , snow and more snow

We arrived home last Sunday , paying the odds we got home without a spec of snow.
Then into the garage we parked after pulling out the baby trailer, Monday am it snowed and we cleaned the driveway But on Wed. were stuck the traffic was horrid and we decided to wait it out, we cancelled Ben's apt- remember the one we drove home from FL for. The roads were not good and our tires were basically seasonal - one season - summer- we did not think we would see snow for a few more years. As we have been lucky enough to stay south for the white blasts. The snowmobiles are still crossing the Ottawa River along the tree line and the River is thick enough I guess but I am not going to take our the truck to try it in my curiosity!! So here I stay and wave as they pass me bye. The weather is starting to thaw- although Ben has the fire place stoked and there is his recliner parked right next to it. The ice/snow in the driveway has now started to recede so Spring may actually be here. BUT not in Ben's books. HAHA

Heading North to the land of the SNOW???

On March 15th Ben celebrated his 71st birthday by driving Miss Daisy ( me ) towards the Canadian border. Our trip started at 08:30hrs when we jumped into the old jalopy laden down with trinkets, quilting supplies and a meager bag of dirty laundry.

As we left Leesburg, Fl our route took us through the Ocala National Forest the second largest National Forest in the U.S. state of Florida and covers approximately 607 square miles of Central Florida.

Sleepy towns of Umatilla, Atoona are noted as the GATEWAY to the Ocala Forest, Blink and you may miss them, although Umatilla is a little livelier with a little farmers market and a front street that is slowly being renovated and reminiscent of an old western ghost town before the cobwebs.

Over and hour into our trip we waive as we pass St. Augustine. I remember several years ago wondering around the waterfront, admiring the birthplace of Florida Jesuits and the ornate church and monastery in the 1500's soon to be upstaged by the Presbyterians. Notably one very prosperous church goer, Mr. Flager ( for whom a county was name after) held the church's purse strings as he came to financial aid of the Memorial Presbyterian church after it met the ill fate of the effects of fire. Soon after Flager helped develop other business in town- hotels, college. All part of his Florida East Coast Railroad and start up cities along its way. How did he make his money you wonder. As the day passes we find ourselves in Georgia, Savanah. We had camped south of Savanah in Mac Intosh Lake a sleepy hallow off the beaten track, We made many a number of trips into Savanah but not for the usual site seeing. We had a projet to work on while parked for 10 days, rebuild and insulate the RV bedroom, So needless to say we spent a lot of trips running to camping world and home depot, not to forget Ace Hardware! Savanah is really known for being the USA's first planned city and famous for it's architecture, not to mention the birthplace of the " founder of USA Girl Scouts" - who would have thought!!

As we spend more time on the terrain a familar sign appears and one can not help be amused as Pedro points the way north, Pedro you say................ Yes he is the little Mexican cartoon character that points the way north to the border of North and South Carolina. HIs bedroom community is called " South of the Border Soon it is time for us to pull over in Lumberton, NC it is end of day one.

Day two looks promising. The day starts of a little cloudy and by 10 am it is nice and sunny. We wonder how long we will be storm free hearing that bad weather my be headed our way, Ben winces as he sees snow on our 8th hour, We pull over and call it a night as rain, and temperatures fall and some reckless drivers left debris at the side of the road. THE WET ROAD threatens to soon be black ice, We stop and grab a room saver book and soon we are nestled into a lovely new hotel in Harrisburg, PA> Minutes from the famous Chocolate factory HERSCHY'S. We have seen the Carolina's, Virginia and now into Pennsylvania Valleys.
