Somewhere it says.........

You have to create a mess to appreciate the cleanliness??? Well I have crossed to the otherside- the dark side!! WE are literally tearing the house apart, furniture moved away from wall, books stacked to the ceiling, and wall units slung aside. No room is untouched except the bathroom! I am in the bedroom straddling the couch and bed pulling off wallpaper. I don't know if it came with a 25year promise that it would stick but boy is it stuck. I peeled off the top layer cautious not to release any drywall tape or plaster - with some luck. Now for the dry peelable backing that is definitely not!! I read somewhere that you could dilute liquid fabric softener in hot water. Dip a sponge on it and soak the backing. Works Marvey!! Now when all this is done DH has to plaster and sand and then I can wheeled my paint brush and magic wand to transform my room. After all the painting is complete then time to put in new wood flooring. OH joy!! Maybe in July I will have my clean house again

P U

Wonder if anyone will notice. Today the side of the house got skunked and of course.. I had my bathroom window opened and the aroma spread to my fleshly laundered and ironed outfit that I would wear today!! UGH SO here I am cute as a button smeller than all heck. We will see if my physio notices my new perfume as I make my way to my appointment soon!

Here is the evidence

Can you spot my brother and myself from this pic? I was really at my daughter's wedding although this is the first guest photo that actually has me in the frame. The photographers is yet to come!

Jane mess up and Ben repairs!

We are going to replace our flooring and new base molding, The original was vinyl modling that was glued to the wall. Guess what happens when you glue it and then remove it...... Yep it pulls off the gyprock and any plastering. SO I yanked it off ( actually I gently pried it with the putty knife) . This is one coat of plaster Ben is in plaster mode and then coat # 2 , sanding and painting. I think that sanding and painting will be my job. The new flooring will arrive in 2 weeks so we have time to spit and polish!

I wouldn't want to waste any time

I finally finished my squiggles quilt that I posted earlier in the week. Made from scraps of a previous effort and quilted onto a creme muslin. I used variegated thread to quilt it on my frame Followed by hand stitching on the binding... Now onto the next project, Well I guess I will wait till the morning!

Mirror Mirror on the wall what is the

next project of them all................... Only time will tell, I have a list a very important list and only I know what is the next and if I will or if I won't do it. Stay tuned

Apples anyone?

Looks like a bumper crop the first pic is the Granny SMith Variety oh so tart - the way I love them and the way Ben 's hates them. The second pic is a mixed tree of golden delicious and Mcintosh.. Here comes the pies and appple butter.....................

I stink like raw gas

And not my own!! I power washed the house and decks and then the garage door Now this garage door was a gift 30 years ago from another couple who were upgrading, We had split wooden doors on our garage which were 30 years old at the time. We did not hesitate and slapped the metal garage door up and added new paint. Many layers later and old age, that dang door is still ours. The original door I think was probably galvanized I realize as with a light spray of water it shed several layers of paint down to it's brilliant silver. I am more tenacious than the door and it is once again walnut in hue

Finally it is done!

The quilt is now backed, quilted through and through with free hand motion and trimmed with red bias tape.
Let's see how long before Ben throws it on himself for his nap!!

Lots of greenery but...........

Where is the color going? The tulips are holding up for a few more days, bleeding hearts and peonies are uncovering. Now we need to put our thinking caps on- yes you too. I am waiting for Shasta Daisies and Cone flowers to appear. I have hostas and ferns galore and as you can see lots of ground cover, plus a few bunches of lavender. Now the question is what are we planting next ? Think tall , colorful and lasting blooms. Oh by the way the deer did not demolish all of my tulips and my apple trees are all in blossom. SO we are off to a good start. Now to add splahes of color as the tulips die off. Hmmm wonder whose garden I can raid!

Mother's Day and

Mother is the first one up. The dishwasher is unloaded, the chilli is assembled and into the slow cooker. Eggs are on the boil and I will soon have to decide whether they are egg salad or devilled eggs. The gardens are wet from the warm rain last night and the freshly mowed lawn appears as if it has grown an inch in two nights................. Mother is on a roll!

Finally getting back on track I have finished one quilt stitching and now onto quilt two once it is done I will bind the both of them at the same time. I had this variegated thread and wondered what I would use it for.Are you dizzy yet? The applique flowers are designed to fray with washing so the outer stitching should be more effective and pretty when all done, Yep what year will that be??

I cheated

I decided on instant flowers this year so I bought a basket to fill my two barrels instead of planting them individually . Spring is officially here, my tulips are blooming the hostas are peeking up and about 3" tall, even my bleeding heart is blooming. OK I am on a roll, maybe tomorrow I might get my lawn cut if it dries out, If not I have things to do. I have a list on the back burner so we won't be bored. I just may put my feet up for another few days and then watch out here comes Jane on my number 1 project,,, stay tuned!

The fuss and muss is now over- feet are up!

Here I am in North Toronto

I had reserved room at the Super 8 as it appeared very comfortable and close to all amenities. First I was 2 hours early for check in and was shown to the lobey coffee room with all the coffee and free wifi. As I made myself comfy I heard a little " Mrs Low we upgraded your room at no extra charge" Just what you want to hear!!! I now had a King sized suite on the ground level, down the hall from the breakfast kitchenette and water slide. Boy I am sorry that I did not bring a bathing suit. Then again maybe no one else is!! I have most of my chores done and a quick shop. Hmm maybe tomorrow am I can really shop just for me!! Ben is pooped from all the excitement and is snoozing in the king sized Ben getting his 40 winks. We made a mistake and had a delectible delight of Tai food last night. Well we are not used to eating so late or that much. As a result we were wide eyed all night. In my case I am hyped as usual with no visible slowing down, well not today anyway! We will see what is on the list for tomorrow. Tonight I am munching with the daughter and her bridal party and a few other wayward souls. I think I might come home early as they probably bounce back better than old mom!

I guess I did something right!

The Bride asked me to make a sign for her sign in table. They are using a type of building block for people to sign their names and best wishes. Not to be outdone by a video sign in that one can leave a personal message of congratulations! Here is my sign! I wonder if I should have gone into graphic art??
