Swirling, twirling ..........................

The lines in the sand go round and round .... My neighbor has been very instrumental in helping us upkeep our beach. Many years ago we cleared the beach with a tractor and cultivator, keeping it weed free and clean as a whistle. After the tractor was sold we continue to pick weeds by hand. This year my neighbor has fashioned a harrow to tow behind his little ATV. With artistic motion he swirls and spins creating almost ufo holding patterns in the sand. Our lots in front of our houses are pristine. Meanwhile the other properties owners are not so persnickety. Ever morning I rise early and visit the beach with my hoe, clearing out growth on the two adjoining properties to mine. It is a repetitive relaxing motion- if you don't tell my back! Our years of toil show and provide us with a sense of accomplishment. Our adjoining neighbors are not so interested . Pitty that our pride is not catchy. Then again there are only so many folk I can organize

This song goes on and on and on..It's a never ending song...........

Any one that ever went to YMCA/YWCA camp knows this song. Guaranteed to drive any parent nuts if given a child long enough to sing those ever repetitive phrases. I think of this song as I braid and braid and braid scraps of fabric. First I strip the pieces of fabric 3" wide and attach one segment after another of scraps from quilts long gone. Unable to throw out this perfect fabric that is left over from my many projects. I press the pieces in half and half again. I bind three together in the beginning and start to braid about 20' long pieces . After I un knot myself from the coiling strips I start to wrap it into a circle, forever stopping to anchor with thread and needle. I marvel at much time It has taken me to craft together a 20" circle eventually to be a rug, thinking of our ancesters who braided these rugs to add warmth to the cold wooden floors of their thresholds. With various colors I add new lengths to be braided to the ones before it.. I think of how cheaply I can purchase one of these rugs, and the hours it has taken me to get this far. I think of the people in Asia and India- braiding, knotting, tying and weaving rugs with their delicate small hands and how little they receive for their efforts. I am not sure why I even started this project- perhaps to enlighten myself on a new skill, perhaps punishment for not eating all my veggies as a child. It is one of those bets you have with yourself wondering if you are capable of completing a new found project and being too tenacious to give up !! I have no idea who will inherit my task, and once it is of a presentable size I will photograph it for your amusement.

First attempt

So what do I know about veils?
Nothing except they are too darn expensive.
At $200 I thought I would see if I have any talent
I ordered a veil online it came $3 and 5 foot long and crappy lace
But worth every penny! I cut it in half, applied my satin ribbon in my stash
Then a little rose across the top and will fashion it to a comb
Viola not bad I am probably up to $5 for my prototype!

One door bitet the dust!

We have this glass entrance to our home as the snow will settle by our front door. Almost 30 years ago we put in this glass enclosure made from patio door windows that were on the factory reject line. The Patio door itself came from a friend of Ben's who was getting rid of it from his home. The door was so heavy with it double paned glass and all metal frame. Finally the one pane of glass had moisture between the glass and then poof cracked. In those days safety glass was not a must. SO now what were we to do>> Another friend came along, she had removed the french door between the kitchen and dining area in her house. So I inherited it.
Ben twigged the old metal frame, built his door frame to set it into place and asap I will have to paint the frame the door is beautifully painted. So that was Ben's project of the day yesterday!

Knitted out

I had bought some chennile very inexpensively and then found that I was a little short for my project, Lucky for me someone had bought more than they needed. This was a good thing as the fibre was discontinued and I had no where to go for any extra's. This is my last knit job for awhile I think that I will have to wait to unload on un expecting visitors as my stash is starting to take over

The art of multitasking

Who said it can't be done.

Multitasking to some is like a 4 letter world, to others it is a four letter word spelled DONE! The time it takes to procrastinate about a job is significantly more than the task itself. Have you ever noticed?

Now some chores can only be done alone and should never be tempted to double up. For instance the lawn- now I have a gas lawn mower that is self propelled. The safety mechanism requires me to have all hands on board during operation. Some tie up their safety brake while other obey the law. In this instance to multitask I have to work at the speed of lightning.. Having my vision concentrated on upcoming noxious weeds that I can pluck easily with one hand as the mower is set for turtle pace and me not wanting let go of the mower- God forbid it should run over a small animal..........

Vacuuming is something that was meant to have an accompanying form of art. For instance with swifter wand in hand, as you vacuum the rugs-- you can swipe those cobwebs over head.

Laundry facility in the kitchen makes it handy to wash, and fold and flip over the eggs at the same time! All this while talking on your bluetooth phone extension

Then there is the fridge. No only are you cleaning out those crispers, rearranging the freezer and unloading food gone bad........ You are eating leftovers. This multitasking every must carry the most reward points.

AHH The fine art of multitasking- some have it some don't and some of us just need to sit and write a book about it but we are too busy with both hands to handle a pen and paper as well.......

Good luck .................

Ring Bearer Pillow

This is all done by me and soon to be finished
I had embroidered a ring box, an angel in burgundy
Then added gold and burgundy ribbon
Still lacking something I am making lace in the same gold color
I am almost finished the lace, it is labor intensive and takes some ingenuity to get
all the segments attached and to fit the frame of the pillow.
Helps to be able to compute with simple math

Thank goodness!

A camping we will go, a camping we will go......

And a good time was had by all.
Our four nights immersed in the land of mosquitoes outside of beautiful Brockville On. Our camping trip was uneventful except for the loads of mosquitoes that found their way into the tent trailer,After a good dose of raid we slept well only to discover on night two where they were coming from and how to keep them out!

We met many a great friend and had a break down break away weekend to yap, eat and relax in the old lawn chairs. NOW BACK O REALITY!
