And the saga continues

Don't ever believe hubby when he says it is all my fault.
After gleaming about his flooring job he decided to rip out any existing rug in the rv and now our whole floor is new. At best of times I remove my shoes, I am not even sure if my feet should touch this floor.Let alone should I charge for viewing rights as my friends check out Ben's handiwork.

Note to Sal: Yep that is right Ben even got all the moulding done and it looks great too. Wonders never cease

Let's see if those Yankies are going to post .....

a go home sign on this Canadian's lawn. I have been invited to play board games / cards tonight. We will see how I do, I am a whiz kid at cards. Little do they know that I can play cards yep folks it is a revelation. Actually a sport that I can boast I am good at.. well most of the time.

I will look so demure, innocent beyond description until I meld. That is it spring it on them. Wish me luck or collect bail money. I am not sure they will ever invite me back!

Crossing the threshold- tread lightly

I was so good that Santa managed an early Xmas gift.
Out with the old.. In with the new..
Santa aka Ben yanked pulled and heaved the old carpet out of the rv
Thanking everyone it was not glued down, but he did manage to pull up a few hundred tacks that anchored the floor down.

Then he laid a nice oak floor- we cheated it was vinyl planks but look great and we had no trouble, the hardest part was cleaning up all the old tacks. It was once again a neighborhood event with people peaking in and out while he worked. The job in total took about 7 hours with the larger portion taken up by fussey cuts. We are very pleased and now too tired to eat our Pre Xmas meal. It will be heat and serve tonight!!

Thank you Santa

And some go off with a bang!!

Kapowey.. I was on my scooter, motoring around within the speed limit and it happened. I had a blow out. No it is not do to my over indulgence at this time of year. Probably a worn slightly over inflated back tire, as I had just pumped it up. Oh well on the job list for dear hubby!

I brought one Xmas decor to our campsite

The daughters boyfriend refused to have this on their front lawn, he thought it was tacky. I want to let him know that Santa is safe with me and fits right in to the decor here in the land of no snow

Hot stuff!

Well most of you think it is winter I am sure that it is summer here in Florida.
What with the green grass, flowers in abundance of blooms and the AC blasting as the heat soars above 89 in our rv. We are suffering in hard times, I can hear the sentiment from my most northern friends.

Today we went to the Marion Market, a large flea market about 2o miles north of us. Veggies and fruit on display, highly polished and not so highly priced, clothing, dollar items, and home improvement tools, adorned the tables. The crowd was pleasant no pushing, pulling or bopping into each other, politeness reigned. What is more important is that i made it home with still some money in my pocket.

Community Event

And thar she blows!!!!!!!!!! Yes folks we are all tied down, anchored to the helm. The ever decorated shed has taken it's place at HTR. With donations from neighbors, long lost signage that made it to my shed here we are a spectacle. It will take time to see if the greenery takes .. with cacti, elephant ears, snake plants to poinsetta's my shed it well adorned. Thanks to the participants of the shed decor team. We will have to see what survives and what goes. I somehow think that I am expected to have a coffee room in the shed to house the many onlookers and of course supporters of the event.

Perhaps in the New Year we will have to christen the metal abode. Perhaps we should run a contest " Name this shed"?

Merry Christmas - golf cart style

There were a few brave souls who braved the Xmas Golf Cart parade here at HTR
I managed to snap a few. Too bad with my new camera I had not studied the different modes. Either that or wear my reading glasses. It is a Miracle!! I even have some on video I had no idea I was filming.

Now the bigger question is ?????? Have I lost it? Better not ask the better half

Ben's tree is abust!

Not only is Ben's tree full of festive fruit.. I took advantage of the over hang of branches and planted some immpatients and rockery flox. I am hoping that the frost doesn't find them hiding under the overhanging foliage

Clogging does funny thing to the feet

And look at those legs? Aren't they slim.. NO these are not our signature legs and feet after our many dance-athons that Pat and I have performed, under the guidance of our courageous dancing teacher. This is one of two of my Xmas decorations. I love it easy to put out easy to take down!!

Oh to be a baby again

Aren't kids fabric great? Here are some flanelette sheets plus one of two itsy bitsy baby blankets one is a double fleece the other only a single layer- Too bad they will only cover my tootsies!

Nap Time?

I had some chenile left over and decided to mix it up a little. The blanket border has a double yarn of acrylic and chenile with a vintage pattern of again a double yarn of one pale green and the other white, The blanket is a lot heavier with the double yarn. Too bad it is infant sized!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the cake that Pat and Norm made

We went out for my birthday dinner, we were all too full and too tired for desert
Today we will have our desert and another birthday lunch to celebrate or not count calories.

Don't you think it is too pretty to eat?

54? Hmm a good year so I thought

As I started my day I knew there would be trouble. Previously the night before we found not one but two leaks in our rv roof, Should be a simple job to repair once the torrent of rain stops. Our neighbor has a similar problem so we felt we were in good company! What else could happen? Well 1)the vent on top of the bed decided to leak so we dried the bed linen and put a tarp on the bed. First time in 53 years that I needed a plastic sheet on my bed. We slept in the living area of the RV on a comfy futon.

Dawn of the new day bought other circumstances. First we surveyed the place for more leaks- nope everything has been accounted for.. SO one would have thought it safe to get dressed. Hmm clunk!!!! Scream!! There goes my very expensive ( so my hubby reminds me everytime i put them on) diamond earing down the P trap. Luckily the plumber who put in the plumbing had not glued every joint, the plumbing disassembled and out popped my earing... Things to be thankful for today????????????? That i did not loose the earing in the septic system!

How many Men....

One ceiling fan, a very heavy ceiling fan, and three old men!! All trying to disconnect this fan and not get wounded or electrified!! And where were the women- taking the pic for future reference!

Not one, two , but three

Orchids, orchids everywhere. There i was surrounding by plumage of purple, white, mauves and yellows. $5 a piece or two for $9..Ben loves orchids, I kill orchids. I have a rather green thumb but these tubers elude me. The old man at the market said he had to get rid of them and they were for sale $10 for three. How could anyone refuse? Now let's see if I can keep them alive!

A thousand lashes

Today we went AWOL ---shopping, out to lunch with friends. Not to let any of you down we did manage to do a little work- cement slab walk. We placed cement slabs at the base of our stairs, not quite level but that is work for the am. So you see I did not get into much mischief and have so much to get caught up on tomorrow

And the rain came!!

In between the drops of rain we were able to errect a 8 X 10 shed at our campsite. Neighbor Norm, Ben and me inserted hundreds of screws, nuts and bolts into the metal frame. It should withstand hurricane season just fine, now to decorate. Perhaps I can plant a little garden around it- so many choices and then i have to construct something that is draught tolerant, frost tolerant and try not to dig up any electrical or water lines while i am creative.. Stay tuned we will see what Jane does next!

Shake Rattle and Roll

The Rv had a tendency to swing to a different tune, as one maybe sitting in one portion of the rv, a second walking from one end to the other, You had a choice to put your water glass on the table or try to swoon to the muscial rhythm. But no more! With the addition of cinder blocks to the belly of the rv, the added support stabilized the rig. No more run a way RV!! And who knows our humble abode may outlast the owners!

One step closer to Heaven!!

Today we hit the jackpot!
I stumbled across a lady that was wanting to depart from 2 sets of stairs
One that would be perfect for our rv
The railings unbolted, he man strength from a friendly neighbor to get the fittings in the truck.
A little porch and four steps
How snuggly they fit against the RV and appropriately spaced for decent from the RV to the ground. No more swooping down the metal staircase, clutching the handle with a death grip. AHH Luxury!

Ride anyone?

When we are not biking or walking you can find the old folks totting around on our scooters

Mascot!

This is our welcome marker, it is a symbol of the Bytowner Good Samers of which we belong. As a fund raiser the RV group made this look a like mounties. It sets us apart from the other Canadians in the park

T anyone?

Yes I get curbside service, this is my little abode and Ben serves me T, it is a lifesaver as those little mosquitoes loves me they absolutely do!!
The screen room is a fantastic pop up it is based on the same idea of the pop up laundry bags. Simple and useful.

The funniest thing was a couple of years ago a squirrel tried it out and couldn't get out!!

Oranges Oranges everywhere

Introducing Ben's tree, if you did not read about me last year I am being fertilized, clipped, prunned to perfection and watered alternate days and now I have loads of oranges just starting to turn so that Mr. Ben can get his fill in of oranges

Don't look down

These are pics taken from and on the Hill Island Bridge that straddles Ontario and NY state.Situated between Kingston and Watertown. Just think I used to do this towing a 30 foot rv and it is at least 800 foot drop

I lost a day !! Where has it gone

This a.m. we scrubbed, vacuumed, hand washed the RV, boosted and polished scooters, pumped up bike tires and sorted through closets and reorganized our effects. And of course I thought it was still Sunday. We have been here a little over 24 hours and have accomplished a lot, however we have had time pass us by!

No mischief for me..I have been far too busy for any of that
Hopefully tomorrow I can get back on track and off to the races with my activities
however the first thing on my list is to pop up my little screen room and then out for my walk - Yep first thing early in the a.m. or it will be far too hot

And I must remember that tomorrow is TUESDAY!!

Southern Belle's here I come!!!!!!!!!!

Here i am in South Caroline with a pink facade, frekles galore and a rudulph rednose.
we started our day in South Pennsylvania, clouds and sprinkle of rain. About an hour into the drive our dash dimmed the gauges faulted - a sure sign from above.Mother must be speaking!! The clouds parted, the sun came out and the heat wave of 90 degrees swarmed down on us. The mysterious guages rectified themselves and we trudged on.
Stopping at every flying J to refuel the vehicle and hit the chef salad bar at the cash. WE aim to stay fit while on the road!

After a long drive about 9hours we went for a lengthy walk only to find lots of fast food restaurants, Russel Stovers chocolate Store - thank goodness they were on the wrong side of the street. Lucky for us Subway was not far away and we made a wise cheap choice.

Hoping to reach our destination mid day tomorrow - wonder what groceries the neighbors have!!

On the road again

Up and over the Hill Island Bridge, through the foothills of the Pennsylvania Shield, over hill over dale to the southern most exposure of P.A, Nestled in the Travelodge of Chambersburg you will find the Lows on their way to the sun shine state.

Yes here we are waiting for our complimentary hot grub before we risk crossing Hwy 30 to start another day of marathon travel. Where will it lead us??? Stay tuned...............

Argo Retreat!!

And what did you do this week? I bet I can top anything! My neighbor volunteered me to sew a customer cover top for her husbands Argo. We measured, made paper templates, pinned, cut,and finally sewed ( yep double stitched every seam). We had a system I made the patterns, cut the fab, consulted with the neighbors hubby and then it was time to sew. The wife at the sewing machine , me at the distal end pushing and pulling the fabric. AS we neared completion the cover was a might heavy , the hubby helped me guide the fabric as his wife, pressed the throttle and steered her needle. Three days of effort and here we are........

F I N I S H E D

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Here we go just a reminder that soon it will be here to stay.
Yesterday we got some of that wet white stuff and decided it would be a good day to get our distemper ( flu ) shots. It was a blistery day but this am there was no white stuff on the ground . Perhaps it is a tease for us as we get closer to crossing that U.S.A. border.
Proves that I should stay home today and prepare for our southern exposure get away!!

So where is the wife??

Safely on the ground shooting pics, once he is done I will have to start raking, and I thought I was all done! But then i looked up- big mistake - more leaves no labour!!
And now that I have evidence that Ben is actually doing hard labour he may want a salary!!

Ottawa's Tall Ship

The black jack is now used as a learning tool for young sailors and cruises up and down the Ottawa River, It is a real site with all the sails - when it is windy enough for them to be hoisted. The Black Jack origins were as a tug, originally constructed in Scotland and sent to Quyon, Quebec for fittings. Launched in May 1904 and later converted to a tall ship in 1952. She has sailed the Ottawa River, the St. Lawrence Seaway and down to New York City for Tall Ship Rendezvoua

Supper anyone

The geese are very bold they come right up to our breakwater. Today they were visiting early this am , however they have flown off. Probably gone south and the next crew should soon arrive. I am sure that you have room for a few in your yard or on your table?? I will give you directions............

While the wife was working the hubby was snapping

The moth/butterfly blends in perfectly with the brick of the house. Luckily he/she were able to sit still and wait for Ben to return with his camera

Full time job! No pay ... Any takers

The color is very pretty, but take a second look who is going to have to rake the end result? You got it ME

Leaves Leaves everywhere

Just when you think you are done you look up way up and there they are taunting you!

This is a baby blue mohair sweater that I sneezed my way through making. You will notice two little hats one is a preeemie and one slightly larger with a big pompom , I love pom poms!! The hats were made with my knifty knitter a new to me knitting tool. It reminds me of the little one that i had as a kid that was a simple spool with finishing nails and I knitted cordes galore

It is that time of year when there are thousands of Canadian geese out on our waterfront. Of course there is a lot because we are on the flight path to south/north Transcanada routes.
I think that the gaming season is far too short or the birdies have found a good hiding spot- yep at my house. Granny get your GUN!!

My Blankey

I made a quilt for a friend and liked her color choice so i went back to the store and bought bits and pieces no knowing what design i would do and of course here i am with my very own blankey

Manual labor

Ben got a new to him truck cap the cap was black with sap from oak trees, I wish i had taken a before and after pic. But I have evidence of his hard labor

Released from sick bay but on detention

This is a quillow that I made, the topper is made from scraps and there is a white fleece blanket inside

While in sick bay

AS I am on house arrest I thought I would make the most of my scraps and this is a very large lap quilt, Wouldn't some kid love the colors

On bended knee.. FINALLY !

Well today the old fellar I live with put a new floor into the tent trailer. He was down on his hands and knees and I was the pretty supervisor! Even when we got engaged he did not get down on one knee so many years later I finally got him in the right position and handed him sticky back tiles. Lucky for me the tiles were 70% off because they were to be discontinued, and better yet they matched the decor- I was going for cheap and did not realize till we put them down they matched with every thing!
