Trounce Alley

This magical Downtown Victoria alley subtlety takes you from the city into a different world with tiny, cozy stores, cafes and restaurants. Trounce Alley also features one of the many scary attractions in the city.

 I took the pictures below however the link is sooo much better! The light was obscure as the hidden alley is nestled in between tall building.

From Levi Store, to the button and needle store ( a knitters delight with every imaginary button or skein of yarn ). An art gallery with mostly oil paintings- no quilts to my dismay! I saw a nice door and I took a picture of that to highlight the stained glass that adorns it. For some reason an old fellow got into the picture. Oh I recognize him, he is the better half...................

 The Book Store had all sorts of figurines and books. Cameras were not allowed in any of the stores

SO at 5:30 am the phone rings, I leap the stairs at lightening pace, wondering if I have won the Lottery ...........you all know the answer to that one.

I first awoke to over 100 emails of course I am on a different time zone than usual and my friends think I am dead they have not obtained an immediate response. .

Working through them I get sidetracked

1) My Visa card has gone beserk, I have contacted them with no success SO then I left my phone number telling them I would be over to the bank and in 1/2 will withdraw my millions and cross the street. The bank sprang into action mode. Problem solved....

2) Aeroplan gave me a new number for some odd reason and they awareded others my points. I called and got that straightened out ....Then I had to call the credit card and ask them if they were all Morons as they were the ones who introduced the wrong number to my supposedly linked credit card. I now am getting another 5000 points on top of what I expected

3) My neighbors window has 3 large cracks that appeared suddenly during the construction here. I investigated, lined up the contractors showed them the error of their ways. Of course there was no admission of guilt of wrong doing, and I certainly did not accuse them of any wrong doing. 4) I badgered the tax man yet again to sort out the estate taxes that I am entrusted with, Did they start the process? What is taking so long? What is your time line ? Is that a form letter or are you able to think for yourself... Click. Sorry you were cut off........ we are experiencing larger than usual volumes. VOLUMES of WHAT was my thought......


Ok so lets just say I have not quite insulted, nagged , strung up or challenged everyone --- but I just wondered where my husband is?????????????????

I am hopefull if you have any submissions from me today that I have not been flippant with anyone ,Of course it is Monday and of course things happen on the weekend that you have no control over. UNTIL that unsuspecting receptionist answers the phone Monday morning.  Maybe my hubby should pre warn them I am on the loose again??

The yarn that refused to die

Two kids sweaters, two hatts three pair of mitts and yes I still have more... I am not sure what I will come up with I was certain this last little mitts would be the end of that yarn, NOPE. Maybe time to give up and think about donating the leftovers to a good cause? With my luck it will come back to me

Stadacona Park in Victoria BC

Stadacona Park is located on Pandora Ave between Elford St and Belmont Ave. This is a pleasant place surrounded by nature right in the heart of Victoria! A great place to sit back and relax!

I need lots of buttons for 2 sweaters- one day . I finished the grey yarn but have more blue and I am not sure yet what I will do with that. Depends on what patterns I find. Stay tuned

 Most of the houses in this part of town are either cedar or stucco, as you can see Victoria's older neighborhood has a rash of heritage homes made of both. There are many homes with the small plaques that indicate their authenticity and have been kept up to their original glamor. I was interested in iron gates on the brick house, I could not see that age of the house but it appears to be at least 80 years old.

One iron ring, peat moss/soil, black landscaping cloth, chicken wire and punch in some ground cover. But remember to water it, you can see the water in the ground after the hose treatment

This display is at the Cornerstone Cafe just 2 blocks from where we are. I will watch the development and study it closely

Martha Move over

Out for a walk and spied this treat. It is a frame with the green water soaked florist sponge, then cut flowers are stuck into the green foam. It is pretty impressive. This is the second time by it this week and I would think that the flowers probably last a week before they are caput!!

There seems to be a lot of artwork every where I turn. This was just off of Fort Street a few blocks from Downtown Victoria. The latter looks as if it might been a window at one time, it is tiled and gives you an effect as if it is a fountain, Sorry no water!
