On the Road again

Ny., PA., NC. and now in S.C. Here we are in the sleepy town of Santee in South Carolina an hour north of Georgia. It is a sleepy exit with tons of fashionable motels/hotels and lots of fast food restaurants. We are maintaining our budget of $10 for lunch and dinner, breakfast is free at the hotels. We have done well today. We spent a whopping $7 for lunch and $9.79 for supper. For both of us. I need to write a book on " two can dine for less than $9.99" for the weary traveler. We have made great time along the roads, one day of hills and rain, one day of sweet sunshine and clear roads. So far we have been lucky without any incident. We did see a lady who looks as if her car was totaled and she must have been hit from behind twirled landed on the median and straight into a tree. A multitude of people stopped to help. We reminded ourselves about all the years of our driving and little hazards we have had. Gladly we travel through North America knowing that in case of peril at least onlookers will stop and offer assistance, unlike other countries.
So here we are nestled with our computer and so close to our destination. Look out neighbors here we come!

Cleaning out the fridge!!

Today is the day of cleanup, The fridge is looking pretty sad..
The leftovers being gobbled and we have a tenderloin roast, one steak or portion of chilli and one of meatloaf left. NO cookies, candy, cereal or bread. We are in a sorry state but we will not be wasting a morsel. We have not much to clean out as the fridge is pretty barren. All of this in preparation for our southern exposure

One way trip to hell

How could the day go soo wrong

Ben had a procedure and we traveled over and hour to get there
three hours later we are on the driveway and he says he forgot his coat. SO back I go to retrieve the clothing. Ben also had a return for me to take back to the store, No problem' SO off I go, return done. Then to the bank, EGADS they mixed up the accounts, straightened out. Let's try another- off to the pharmacy with a prescription who the heck is Lizzy Brown it is not Ben Low- the Dr put the name of the GP instead of the patient on the prescription. SO the pharmacy will reserect that.. then to get the renewal of the other meds the pharmacy wanted the RX number- they don't do names!! Plus they are asking you what he should be getting and you can see the listing easily on their screen. HMM DO I have to train everyone........ After all of this the real question is should I get my hair cut,?? Well after a day like yesterday the news is I am NOT bald!

GIddy up

I used to make helmut covers for my daughter's equestrian club
I had found the pattern and a stash of fabric.
Can't possibly throw it out, and then I also found elastic.
What could I do but sew helmut covers once again.
I will sell them next spring to my horsey friends!

On further speculation

I measured fabric need to make the chair coverings below
I calculated that any expenditure is = to the cost of the rental.
Now if you were going into business for yourself after the first rental the return would be 100% thereafter. Do I want to go into business for myself? Hmm NO. But it would be interesting to accumulate these homemade projects and instructions into a format that anyone can use perhaps another website for Projects on the CHEAP by Jane Low................................

Version two

This is very simple as well.
Rather than covering the whole chair the seat itself is bare.
The reasoning is that the satin is rather slippery and may not be as comfortable as sitting on the actual chair pad of the chair. Then again it depends what shape the chair is in

I am getting closer in my quest for the best!!
I knew this fab has a reason for being in my closet!

Or a glitch

I may have found my nitch

I was thinking that wedding venues charge way too much for the covering of chairs...

I had a brain storm and I knew I had all this gold satin lining, Perfect, I did not cut the fabric as I am not sure if you want a simple wrap or a custom cover, In my thought the custom cover would be much harder to press and look pristine on the given day.....

This is all Ben's fault

He decided to plant a black rsaperberry for Kev and then transport it to the house, but they moved! So now I have this raspberry plant sprouting out of the old stump as you ca nsee.

I found the little placque in my stash and it suits the spot

History lesson 101

+ Double click to enlarge map

I live on the Ottawa River here is a map.
I live in Constance Bay close to Buckham's Bay, right in the Pennisula. The Pic's below are of the Quebec side directly across from Buckham's Bay.The Crown Point Pic is just south of Mohr Island on this map, and if you look closely you can see the Island and the Point , separated by a mass of trees, although with the heavy foliage it is a " Where is Waldo" type of pic

Here comes the sun!

Hello Quebec!

Situated 3 miles across the river is the province of Quebec
