cute little town of Arnprior

The Arnprior & District Museum is situated in the former Post Office built in 1896. Based on a design by Thomas Fuller, who was the architect of the original Parliament Buildings in Ottawa (c. 1860), it was saved from demolition by the generosity of David and Jessie Gillies in the early 1960s. This designated building is now recognized as the symbol of the Town of Arnprior. We frequent Arnprior on an regular basis, convenience and location are the key. The sleepy little town hosts a number of retail stores that we support on a regular basis. No high traffic areas, high priced parking or crowds. The town also has a sizable hospital and a short waiting list which also makes it an attraction on our list. Not only is it close to home it is a pretty scenic drive through horse country to our destination

Foliage everywhere

Gardens were turned and edged florals at the side, front and back of the house!

Mceleney Abode

A very comfy house with little jobs to do, you come, you work and they feed and bed you not a bad deal!

Garage Doors painted oh so white!

Someone else recognized us too!
We took a break from our work to see Dag

She was easy to spot in the crowd as we came off the plane. With her bright red shirt and smiley face!

Our approach towards Winnipeg Airport was not exciting, pouring rain and dull. However on landing there was a smiley face to meet us!

Dryer Lint

I seldom use a dryer but I am today. As I pull out the link from the lint tray I wonder what wonderful things I could do with it: I could make Paper, Yarn, and draft stoppers from the raw material Another option is fire starter - using egg crates and stuffing it with the lint, strike a match and there we go......... How about donating it to birdies to nest with. Better yet if I save enough of it I could use it for quilt batting.......... See what happens when I am between projects!

What is that ? Throw out my fav shirt, NO way!!

Here is my nice shirt , well it was nice until I got some oil on it, I have no idea how. So after three days soaking in oxyclean I decided embroidery was the tool of choice. My quilting machine up and died so while we try to see if it is fixable I am here trying to come up with schemes to keep me busy

And whose Smart As* Idea was this

I decided I would show you what I am working on as it might take me months to complete and I mean it.
Of course I had to think think that I would like to create something different and not boring for me to stitch out. I have 20 squares each each have nine segments within that square. In the past week I have completed only 4 squares of quilting, by my computation I think I will have had a hundred hours of top stitching not including making the quilt, by the time I am done. It may be a long fall!! If you look closely you can see that there is a variety of patterns in this one squre.  Now the big question is what will I think of next for the upcoming 4 spuares. I would like to change it up and do a little something different in each row. Between the squares there is sashing that I will do some feathering on, once I complete the horizontal stitching I will remove the quilt and turn it to then add some configuration to the sashing and lastly the borders. Yes it is keeping me entertained!

The River level is 2 feet lower than usual

We did not put our boat out this summer the water level is so low that the boat are hitting bottom in some areas and we have seen a number of dead heads. Next summer I am sure it will be busier
There is not a boat in sight when usually we have a lot more traffic

Reallly at this time of year?

It is so hot and dry the leaves are falling 2 months early. It is a race against time to see if I can maintain a greenish lawn when all around me is toast!

I get up at 5 am and water until 7am during the quiet hours and sometimes I get an hour or two when the evening is not soo hot.

Let's see if I can keep it up!
